I had a total thyroidecteomy in july 2009 for Graves Disease and multinodular goitre. My initial recovery was good and I am feeling better. I am now on thyroxine replacement. My concern is have good days and really bad days where i am soo tired i just want to sleep. I dont know anyone who has had this and was wondering how long it takes to fully recover? Thanks.

" Usualy, as a rule of thumb, it is 6 months to a year to fully recover from the trama and healing of the body after surgery. It think it all depends on the person.
If you can post your last labs and referanc ranges we can take a look at those to see if may be your levels a little bit to low.
ALso some people do not do well on T4 alone so if your labs look great may be you can ask yoru doctor to give you a little bit of Cytomel to help you feel a bit better.

" yeah, i was started on synthroid right after my operation and honestly haven't felt better til recently because of what doctors had me thinking. i depend on guarana and possibly coq10 for energy since the synthroid isn't doing anything, i think i'm going to switch back to armour thyroid.

just make sure to be persistent if you don't feel well and if one doctor doesn't address your problems, find another one, i'm dealing with that right now. "
