Anyone ever have Nodules Biopsied??

I finally went to another Endo today. Was ablated in Feb,2008, and found ONE nodule (1cm in size). Just recently, by having a Chest CAT Scan, they found more nodules, and then underwent a Thyroid Ultrasound. Two 1.47cm nodules were found on my right lobe of my thyroid, and two found on my left lobe, one of which is 2.4cm, and the other 1.47cm. This new Endo has scheduled me for a Fine Needle Aspiration biopsy on Nov.18th, and I was wondering if anyone has ever has this procedure done, what the outcome was for you, and is it painful??
I appreciate any input anyone may have!! Thank you!! ** Kara ** Posted on 10/28/09, 09:10 pm |

Hi I have 2 thyroid nodules & have gone for a FNA ..It sounds worse than it is ..They lie u back use a ultra sound to guide the needle (some endos use a numbing cream mine didnt) they will normally draw about 3 syringes for ea nodule b.c the first 2 are fluids and the 3rd gets to the cells. Its feels more funky than painful. They put a bandaid on send u on ur way ..It may feel a little bruised in the following days .. My out come was fine..altho i do go for regular ultra sounds every 6months to make sure they dont change shape or size ..Good luck!

I just had a biopsy on the 13th of this month. I have 2 nodules on left side over 1 cm and 1 that is 2.8 cm on right side, also found multiple (more than 30 Nodules) under 1cm throughout thyroid. Endo took 6 biopsy of the 2.8 cm, came back cancerous. I am under the impression that a nodule that big almost always has A- typical (precancer cells) or cancer cells in them. They scheduled a full thyroidectomy for me on the 5th on November. I hope yours turns out O.K. My endo and my surgeon told me that thyroid cancer is SO slow growing that its a good chance it has not spread. depending on how long its been in there.Good luck and I hope all goes well for you. P.S. This was my second biop. in 7 years and both times I felt like I had been Punched in the throat and it was painful to swollow for about 1 and a half day so the little bit of pain does not last long at all but You will be uncomfortable for a few hours.
