" Even know I have not talked to my doctor about it yet on the followup appoitment. I have also decided on my own to tell my Endocronologist that I want RAI as soon as I can get it done. I do not ever want to go thru graves disease or hyperthyroidism again. I would rather take drugs the rest of my life to keep it stabalized. "

" Hi Bobby:

If you know how hypO feels like right now with your Free T4 heading below range, this is it. Also keep in mind that should you take too much replacement meds, you can still get those hypER feelings that you are trying to avoid.

Best thing to find the 'right' doses of meds whether one is on the ATD, or had the RAI or a TT so one doesn't feel hypO or hypER throughout their life.

Good luck...! :-) "

" Marpo gave a great description of what happens. I have to admit that it was a bit scary having my pill dropped out of a lead container and into a little paper pill cup that I was holding. Why would I want to put something in my body that came out of a lead tube? Because it was that little radioactive pill or my life! I really felt that way.
It was strange not being able to cook for my family etc. I became more than a little bored for those few days. I did have some pain and swelling of my lymph glands in my neck. Have a back-up plan for how to occupy your time for a few days if you are accustomed to being busy.
At 12 weeks after the RAI, I bottomed out and felt as tired as I had felt hyped up before the RAI. It took me about 6 months to be euthyroid on paper but about a year to feel genuine improvement on the levothyroxine/Synthroid.
Sooner than you think you will begin to feel better. "

" Hi Breland, please let us know how your RAI experience goes! I will say a prayer for you because I know how scary it can be - I've had it done twice, but like everyone else here said... the scariest part is just the unknown. It's really not that bad at all, so I feel confident you'll be fine! =) "
