Have you have seen the advertisments for the UN CHILDRENS RIGHTS? Be careful here and find out what they are really about. Go to
parentalrights.org website first and find out the true story is on this movement in congress. They are trying to take away our rights as parents to get medical informationa and decide treatment for our children among other things in this bill. This bill gives children the rights to decide on the medical treatment as young as 9 years old.The children are not developed mentaly at this stage to make good choices for them selfs.Lots of parents do not know about this bill and are uninformed as to what it is really about. The advertisments on web sites and others places are telling of abused children in other countries and I was all for this bill until I read the bill and got information from the above website. Check it out for your self and let us know wht you think.I just wanted to war every one about this bill. Posted on 10/27/09, 02:10 pm |

These two articles bother me a bit. The first is the original; the second is the way the Scottish government explained it to Scottish youth.
Does this mean that parents couldn't tell their kids not to go to a rave? Or hang out with druggies or "bad" kids? A little scary, to be sure. Article 15 1. States Parties recognize the rights of the child to freedom of association and to freedom of peaceful assembly. 2. No restrictions may be placed on the exercise of these rights other than those imposed in conformity with the law and which are necessary in a democratic society in the interests of national security or public safety, public order (ordre public), the protection of public health or morals or the protection of the rights and freedoms of others. 15 (Explained to Scottish youth). You have the right to join and form groups and to make friends - as long as it's not harmful to other people. In exercising your right, you have the responsibility to respect the rights and freedom of others. Contact your local authority for a list of groups up and running in your area. Article 16 1. No child shall be subjected to arbitrary or unlawful interference with his or her privacy, family, or correspondence, nor to unlawful attacks on his or her honour and reputation. 2. The child has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks. 16 (Explained to Scottish youth). Children have the right to their own space and privacy. This may include not having their personal letters opened or anyone listening in to their personal phone calls. In Scotland, the law will allow exception to this right when you or someone else is in some kind of danger. The law should also stop people saying things that damage a child's reputation if it is not true.

SaraBT,
This is what some of the things I was afraid of the very experances you are speaking of plus more. When the goverment takes over our role as parents we do not have the right to teach our children our values and right from wrong. We will not have the right to make decisions for medical care or schooling for our children.Does any one really believe the goverment should interfer with parents(grandparents) rights?I want the right to tell my child no you can not hang around the person who was caught robbing, beating others or murder.I want to have good influences around my child and I at 53 can see down the road farther than they can at teenage years or younger. The bible tells us when I was a child I acted as a child.A child can not fortel the results of their actions as adults can that is why they should not be able to decide for themslfs until they grow up. Believe me I am all for no tollance abuse laws for our children to protect them but some time we have to protect them from well meaning imparcial people too.No one can raise our children as well as their parents or if not the parents the grandparents. We love our children with all our hearts and will not harm them.We are their protecters not the goverment who has no intrest in them as people.A wise man once said to beat a great power you must change the next genration in that power to beat it from within.

" What a picture of Hitler Youth!!! Government organized and sanctioned youth groups! What a nightmare!!! And this one! "This may include not having their personal letters opened or anyone listening in to their personal phone calls." Basically these are taking away our rights, as parents, to PROTECT our children!!!

I had trouble finding the link to the actual UN treaty wording, however. Can you give us a link?
