Bones seeming to 'crack' in affected area

Hi there - I am in the midst of my 1st attack and unsure if one of my symptoms is 'usual'. Two wks ago my foot became painful, and bones within it started to 'crack' when walking up/downstairs. Had X-ray, nothing broken - next day I couldn't walk at all. Dr DX'd gout, prescribed Colchicine for 3 days and strong Co-Codamol (can't take anti inflams as I am on Warfarin).

This has been so painful, but was feeling better and hoping to go back to work Monday, last night though it got lots worse and I am struggling to put my foot on the floor, when I do, the jarring and cracking seem worse than before - does anybody else get this? Thanks x

" Hi Lisachick,

I haven't experienced the cracking, but I certainly do get the pain. I know exactly what you mean when you say you are struggling to put your foot on the floor.

Do you have crutches or a cane? That's what I have to use to get around when I'm in a bad flare. I agree Gout is so very painful. Any movement whatsoever aggravates the pain. I was recently diagnosed and never knew what the heck was happening with my feet. I have other illnesses and always attributed the pain to those. My first 2 flareups I didn't have the big toe pain. For the last 3 weeks I've been having gout pain in my right elbow. (Also very painful) I see the rheumotologist this Tues.

I take Allopurinol daily and Indomethacin when I'm in a flare. I've changed my diet and it does seem to help (although I was never a red-meat eater nor did I drink beer).

I don't know if this has helped at all, but just wanted you to know that I feel your pain.

Take care,
Malena "
