Ok I need to ask...Someone came into work and we had been talking about my Dad's gout, he told me he has gout too. He uses WD40 and it breaks down the crystals and helps him alot. Has anyone heard of this?

" Try Google "natural gout cure" and you will find most of the home remedies, but I don't remember any of them that use light oils like WD40.
Almost all natural remidies recomended are ingested. Epson salt seemed to be main one recomended for soaking sometimes,
It might be that the oil has a cooling effect or does something to help the burning skin senstion. I would be skeptical that it does anything internally to reduce the gout crystals.
When I have an attack, about the only place I want to soak my my foot in is the gabage disposal. "

" In short, WD40 company disclaims any medical uses and recommends against it. The scientific community thinks it provides only a placebo effect. Medical side thinks it may provide a cooling effect on the skin and the massaging it in increases blood circulation. Both good for pain relief but don’t require WD40.
Then there are the people who swear by it. If you Google “gout WD40” you will find tons of information on the pros and cons of WD40.
Next time he has an attack and wants to try a home remedy, suggest cherries or ACV which have high ratings and are suggested in all the home remedy books. At least get him to the doctor for pain medication for the severe times. "
