Hello, I was diagnosed with glaucoma two years ago, at age 25. I started taking Timolol, one drop in each eye daily. It seemed to work. My vision field tests were 100%, no vision loss. I felt great. I thought we'd caught this early and considered taking eye drops a minor inconvenience relative to the fact that my sight had been saved.

Recently I've begun to see halos around lights at night, and my eyes have become very sensitive to glare during all times of day. I've been doing some more research and really worried myself. I didn't know the eye developed a tolerance to the medications or that operations were only temporary fixes. I've heard stories of people who started out young taking one drop a day, and now take 12+.

What's hardest for me is that I think my pressure is under control. Because my last VFT was also 100%, the Dr said he only needed to see me back in a year. My next appointment is not until April 8. Until then, I'm pretty worried. Why am I seeing halos and glare? Is there any other reason besides glaucoma that I could see that? Can those symptoms be treated, or will I be living with halos and glare for the rest of my life?

Thanks for your time and advice. I just wanted to check in, say hello, and ask for your thoughts.

" You are the one passing false information and God will get you for that...saying the he cannot cure something as simple as a vitamin A definciency. I have messages from people on DS that have tried the natural cure and let me know that they no longer need the eye drops that list blindness as a side effect. My glaucoma specialist has actually started giving samples of, and prescibing special vitamins for glaucoma patients. They contain a large dose of vitamin A. Oh, and my doctor is just as good as yours, so insulting him... "

" You go ahead and use Xalatan. Just remember, if you touch the dropper to any surface, like your hand or eye, dicard it immidiatly because using it again cuse cause an infection that would make you go blind. "

" JJFlash, you are misinforming people. Glaucoma is not caused by a vitamin A defficiency. Lack of vitamin A has been linked to both colour blindness and night blindness, but neither of these are glaucoma. Besides, in North America, do you realize how rare a serious vitamin A defficiency actually is? There is no cure for glaucoma; only treatments that can slow its progress. Yes, I think God makes better things than science does, too; however, God also made intelligent human beings who have learned to develop scientific solutions to life's problems. I think that if God wanted to perform a miracle to show forth His glory, and cure me of my glaucoma, He would do it, but counting on a miracle is not logical.

I will stick with my great doctor and the drops he prescribed. No, I'm not cured, but I'm holding steady and still living life as normal, so that's good enough for me. "

" JJFlash - I have nothing to prove. All the legitimate medical research out there so far tells us that glaucoma has not yet been cured. I would not risk my vision on an unproven "miracle cure" just because some guy on the internet claims it works for him. I believe it is YOU who have something to prove, since good science and a wealth of medical professionals out there seem to contradict your assertions.

As for me, I'm ending this discussion with you right here. You seem to be the kind of person who cannot be reasoned with at any rate. "

" Drinking carrot juice and doing all you can in the natural is great, but you cannot tell people to go off the drops. Probable the best thing to do is try all the natural things (like drinking carrot juice) for a few months, while using your drops and then ask your docter if you can maybe try your drops every other day and see if your presure remains down and if it does maybe try using them less, and eventually stop; but only with your docters ok and with close observation to make sure the pressure doesn't go back up. This is something a person needs to with the ok of his or her docter. "
