I do have open angle glaucoma in both eyes. I talked methods over with my eye dr. and decided to try the laser. It has an 80% chance of success. However eventually I'll probabley have to do the drops.
I'm haveing the first eye done this wed. How long have you had the gaucoma? Are the drops sucessfull for you? I am 72 and had no problems but the pressure in my eyes had been building for a few years. So the Dr. decided to try the laser.

Glaucoma is currently incurable. You cannot truly know how your pressures came down. You only believe that you cured it.

I'm new here and I've been reading the various posts. JJ writes on most everyone that he cured his glaucoma by drinking carrot juice.
I don't what to think about at that kind of claim. High pressure is caused by blocked drainage, so it makes no sense that the vitamins and antioxidants in anything would cure glaucoma. Plus, according to the article below, carrots don't even contain anything that is in the eye: http://www.glaucoma.org/treatment/n... Eating more spinach would actually make more sense for good eye health. It is also dangerous to overdue ANYTHING, so mostly you should try to eat a balanced and healthy diet and see if that helps your eye pressure. I know I have started taking a good multi-vitamin, fish oil, and some other supplements since my recent news of a visual field defect to see if things improve. I definitely believe poor nutrition can cause problems, but I am pretty skeptical of a cure for glaucoma simply through a single nutritional supplement (unless you eat a terrible diet to begin with).

I've had glaucoma for about 7 years. I have no damage to my vision from it and it has always been controlled with drops. I think if the time comes when the drops don't work, I quess I'll have to have laser.

Even wabbit's have opinion's, everybody has one......
Walker, the drops seem to be working for you, do you have any side effects from them? Thats one reason I chose the laser. But if it doesn't work then I'll have to use drops. At least glaucoma can be controlled. I was just diagnosed with it. And I have studied everything I could find on the internet, I changed Drs because the last one wouldn't give me clear answers on the questions I asked. He just kept saying he could fix it. but not how and why. Maybe I should just go chew a carrot LOL Dee
