" I always said that I would be "honestly gay" when I came out. for some reason I prefer that term to the "openly gay." I have always been honest about my sexuality when the time is appropriate. For example, at my first job out of college (I oversaw several hospital departments) a women who worked in one of those departments asked me, "So, do you have a girlfriend. It doesn't appear that you're married." I responded, "Yes, his name is .........." The CEO who came on board after the one who hired me resigned was homophobic. It was the only time that I experienced homophobia in the workplace (that I was aware of). I took my expertise elsewhere. Currently, I do consulting, so I don't enjoy the banter of the workplace--unless I am "onsite" somewhere. but, to be honest, I enjoy not having the office politics which suck anywhere. Now, i can give my opinion and hang up or leave or hang up the phone. "

" Well, I am openly gay and I always have been, I think It's so obvious with me anyway.........................lol

I did have the head of employee health tell me that someone had come ot her with concerns about catching my partners hiv thru me and may be I should be a little uuummmmmm more private about my life. remember these are medical professionals? So I told her maybe that person should just stay away from me cause the ignorance might be catching............................

Mostly tho everyone is fine with me and has been in whatever career I was working in, even construction.................. "

" I'm a cop. After I was able to prove to my shiftmates that I wouldn't back down if confronted, all is well. Everyone accepts it and it's not an issue at all. "

" Working a "the big orange box" has never been an issue for me. My hard work overshadows my being gay. "

" I have formal discrimination charges filed against my employer. They have some people so scared about losing their jobs that they are willing to lie about what happened to me. It doesnt matter because I have a very very very solid case with dates, times, photos, (to prove that standards were different for others). Plus people who are willing to testify that statements made in the company response were false. The company is using stall tactics to irritate me but meanwhile I continue to work with the person I accuse. "

" I don't wear a rainbow flag banner at work, but people know. I never tell since I make the point that it should not matter and it's not their business. No one has ever asked me directly (probably because at work I keep it work).

I'm an openly NOT-AN-ISSUE-HERE-EITHER-WAY.

Before I was married people asked me if I was and I said no in a way that would not make them want to know anything else. I know I'm a jerk at times at work. "
