Yup the whole bible excuse is totall bollocks. It contradicts itself on lots of subjects. Iv been brought up on the bible and my parents arent crazed christians but they rigidly believe that homosexuality is wrong,a joke even.
They know i dont believe and they know im Bi, but they ignore it and "let God sort it out."
My bible knowlage may be a bit dusty as i havnt read or bothered with it for a loong time.
But Jesus never bothered with homosexuality. He said that there are bigger and worse things. As u said the old testement says how it is an abomination for a man to lie with another man. This was said in a time were slavery was ok.
The bible says "man or woman, Jew or Greek, you are all one with God." So this tells you no matter who you are God loves you. This also raises eyebrows to slavery as if we'r all equal why are there slaves? And why are men being punished for who they fall in love with?
In the new Testament Jesus says: "For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother's womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are also eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to accept this, let him accept it." Enuchs were men who didnt marry because of their sexual orientation.
Theres so many quotes that everybody ignores because its easier to go with the crowd and say gay nad lesbian life is wrong "because the bible says so. The Bible dosnt say so.

Lol i just wanted to have a go at religion as its held me back all my life.
I believe in God. But the way religion is used to make people believe things others want them to believe is stupid.

The crazy christians here in california have run-amok. Now we have to try and repeal Prop 8, the anti same sex marriage act.
Time to move to Europe.
Even in Lisbon the gay bars a full a teens having a great time and that country is quite conservative.

I think you've got to remember that the Bible and the testiments were used to give people rule and reason for many centuries, founded so long ago and because these ideas and stipulations have not been updated religion is not respected or accepted by many. But at the same time that's the reason why so many people follow the Bible because they believe the way the Bible states things is how every "good Christian" should live their life.

Personally I believe that people who try to live their lives within religion and it's context only believe what fits in with their lifestyle choices these days. Although if you are brought up like this.

I never was, but I can see how you can get stuck in a cycle in always making the right or moral decisions that work in conjuction with your religion, but I don't think when it comes to other people you have a right to say is what is acceptable for another person to do, unless they ask for your guidance.

Times have changed, but religion will always be one of those fundmental things in society even if it's pushed onto the back burner, people everywhere to a degree were brought up to believe that marriage should be for life and same-sex relationships are something that should not be something entered into because love and marriage and family is something shared between a male and a female.

One of those things that gets me, God Loves everyone, you're not alone, God is with you, he'll never disown you, ask for forgiveness and repent and you'll be fine. How can they say that?

I think that you shouldn't rely on religion as a safehouse and in addition if you break the commandments or sin for something you care about, what then? It makes you an outcast, in the eyes of the church.

I am not trying to say people who follow religion believe every word in the holy book, I'm just saying when people do things for their happiness, or the happiness of others around them, like the idea of the Christian community; help your neighbour why are they punished or rejected?

It seems like alot of double standards in the modern day society, creating barriers between people and people wonder why there is more backlash and extremism towards to religious clusters and spects, they don't help themselves sometimes and are asking for the people in the "outcast" minorities to get aggrivated now and then.

Obviously this is not the case with all churches or religious groups but it definately can be said of the Catholics and the Mormons.

I Can care less about the bible its not going to dictate the way i live..

But on the slave part the bible says how you can sell an by a slave.

But it doesn't say what race the slave has to be it only tells you what i put on top.

The bible is so controversial. I think it causes so much harm because everyone interprets it differently and then they think their interpretation is the only right one. It has brought on so much pain because most are too ignorant to really understand it. It's a book. It's a nice story but that doesnt make any of it true. There really is no proof. A lot of Christians arent happy with letting difference continue. Plus, we're gay which means we're a thousand times happier than they are. haha. None of this was meant to offend anyone. In case it did Im sorry.

I believe that the Bible is Man's stories of God. It is not the word of God. I've heard the 'moral code' vs 'ritual code' in the old Testament as an argument for why homosexuality is still wrong and eating shellfish isn't. As society evolves, religion must evolve with it or be forced into oblivion. I know the love of god and I am redeemed by his son Jesus Christ. God has been with me through the roughest times of my life.

the book, the new testement, isnt even jesus.. if there was a jesus.

I think that if you are religious and gay then God DOES love you. The say he died for everyones sins. Being gay and lesbian is a sin. It's as simple as that. But for those people who think that we go to hell , let me tell you that that's bogus. Why would Jesus die for our sins but he wouldn't forgive the sin that people can't control?

Is loving someone a sin? I agree Jesus died for our sins. But the fact that i love my girl with such passion that the whole fucking oceans would evaporate is not a sin.
