New here...does this sound like Gastritis?

I am new here and hoping to get some input. I have been ill for over 9 months with stomach/GI issues. My symptoms started out feeling like I had the flu. Chills, nausea, vomiting and fatigue. When it first started, I would feel ok for a few days and then I would eat pizza, or chinese food, fatty foods etc. and get sick again with the chills, nausea and vomiting. It then progressed to where I have severe pain under my right rib cage with these spells of nausea and vomiting. The pain is almost always under my right rib cage around into my back. It is an aching/burning/swollen feeling like something is going to explode. I've had three episodes of very intense pain worse than childbirth where it felt like someone had put there fist underneath my ribs and was squeezing my insides. I also keep having these spasms of really sharp pain in the same spot (right side, under my ribs) that take my breath away. It is very tender to the touch and often times I can't even sleep on my right side because it hurts too much. I did test positive for H.Pylori via blood back last November, was treated but didn't feel any better. All tests since for H.Pylori have come back negative. I did have an endoscopy back in February which showed Gastritis (but no H.Pylori). Acid reducers don't seem to help me at all. I've been on Prilosec, Zantac, etc. and they don't make a difference...in fact, they seemed to make things worse and actually caused my stomach to hurt and I had terrible heartburn going off of them (which I didn't have at all before). I lost a ton of weight from this and it wasn't from not eating...in fact I was eating twice as much to try to gain weight and I still couldn't keep weight on. I also have had my gallbladder checked and they say it is within the normal range. I don't know what do at this point. My doctor thinks it is Gastritis and wants to put me back on Acid Reducers but I think the acid reducers may have actually caused the gastritis as I was on them when I had my endoscopy. I want to know if these symptoms sound like anyone else. Coffee, Chocolate, and anything really fatty or sugary bother me but sometimes it can be anything I eat. Spicy foods and alcohol do not for the most part. Does this sound familiar to anyone out there? Should I ask for another endoscopy? I just want to feel normal again and I am so tired of being sick without getting any answers. Thank you so much for listening!

" Hi again,
Well, I had the endoscopy and the results were normal...no gastritis, no ulcers, no H.Pylori, no Celiac's...100% normal. Which means it is not my stomach and in all likelihood-my gallbladder. I've been trying to tell them all along but at least now they have to listen. I have an appointment with a surgeon on October 19th as that is the soonest they can get me in. I just want the darn thing taken out! It has been better over the last few weeks as I've been very careful about my diet. I've also been sticking with the DGL (chewable Licorice) before meals and bed and it is helping to reduce the nausea so that is good. I just wish I could get in to see the surgeon sooner but I am going to one of the best hospitals in the country so I guess I have to be patient. I've dealt with it for this long...a little longer won't hurt. How are you feeling? Any improvements? Any news? "

" Hi - I just wanted to post my experiences for people who have these symptoms and don't seem to be getting anywhere with tests/medication. I'm hoping they will give you all a bit of optimism as I know how distressing stomach trouble can be. A few years ago - quite out of the blue - I developed persistent nausea, belching, complete loss of apetite, a bloated 'heavy' sensation in my upper digestive tract. Several trips to the doctor - including checks on my liver, kidneys, various other bits - all came back negative. I'm posting from England and it was a real struggle to get my doctor to take the issue seriously - her response was 'your liver is fine and so I am not worried'. Over the following months I lost loads of weight, couldn't eat, developed anxiety and panic worrying about what it could be (which of course made it worse) and was perscribed various anti-nausea meds such as Maxalon and loads of antacids. Nothing seemed to work. It was completely arbitrary and I couldn't find a trigger for it - most food in general seemed to trigger it! I was really quite depressed with it by the time I went for an endoscopy - which came back with an all clear apart from showing an inflamed stomach. Although I was pleased nothing was seriously wrong, it still went on for months and I was still quite ill. I eventually took the decision to stop taking all the stomach meds that the docs were perscribing - I really think they just aggravated it in the long term and instead sought the advice of a combined nutritionist/acupuncturist. Although this wasn't a quick fix, it did ease things and the advice around diet was incredibly helpful. I had to 'train' my stomach back to normal eating and took some digestive enzymes to help this. Then about two years after it started it just eventually stopped. To this day I've no idea what it was but I'm now happily eating three course meals again with no nasty after effects and am back to normal!
I just want you to know that it will stop one day. The extent of medical ignorance on such matters is often far greater than knowledge. Obviously seek medical advice and get the necessary tests, but if you are on the merry go round of medication that isn't helping you, take control and look at your diet and lifestyle - most importantly try not to stress about it too much. " Hi,

I just got an endoscopy done yesterday. I was diagnosed with duodenal ulcer, cameron ulcer and gastric erosion, as well as a small hiatus hernia. I'm not into allopathic medicines, as they work temporarily. I've been on the internet all day since yesterday looking for natural cures.
I too have pain on the right side of my ribs, in my stomach, under my breast bones and it radiates all the way to my back.
Anyway, every case is different. Usually for gastritis and ulcers they give proton pump inhibitors such as Omeprazole. That helps for a few months, but that's it. It's usually not a cure. Maybe you can ask your doctor for those, as they'll help you with the pain for a few months while you work on actual cures.
I saw on the internet that drinking cabbage juice helps a lot. I'm going to start juicing cabbage with carrots and drink that daily. Also, juice all green vegetables and drink, and eat them as well, steamed without spices and if cooked, then cook in tiny amount of EVOO or coconut oil. Try to buy organic veggies and other products.
Also, drinking aloe vera juice might help - I will try that too.
It's best to avoid eating out, as restaurants dont make healthy food.
Also, if you can buy it, then buy Ispaghol. It's great for acidity. It's not easy to drink, but do persevere. Plan on taking it for years, not weeks or months.
Also, you may or may not have gallstones (get an ultrasound done), but you probably have stones in the liver. Most people do. Try to get a liver cleanse done. If you can afford it, get a parasite cleanse and kidney cleanse done before the liver cleanse, but if you can't, then just do the liver cleanse. However, that said, I have to say that if acidic foods are not good for you, then you may not be able to get a liver cleanse done, because you have to drink olive oil mixed w/ lemon or grapefruit juice. I really want to do this liver cleanse, as i'm convinced that it'll help improve my health (it even gets rid of knee pains and other pains that we wouldnt associate with the liver). You can find it on this website:
www.allnaturalinfo.com
although i have another liver cleanse recipe too. It's a bit different. If you're interested in seeing it, let me know and I can email it .
Hope we all get better. :-) "

" I had my gall bladder removed about a year ago, and felt great until now.. I have always had bouts of gastritis, and now seem to have it more often. I was on acid blockers, but decided to stop taking them myself. I think they are the key to gastritis. I too always fel like there is gas in my upper abdomen. It sometimes feels like I have a baby moving in there. I feel like I have to burp all the time. I think that I'm ready to start natural healers. It also comes and goes. I also have an aching by my right ribs, I guess I'm gonna try taking pills again. Good Luck to all of us. "

" I have suffered with Gastritis for a couple of years now off and on. I can go for months and I'm so happy to be alive and everything seems just fine. Then bang, out of nowhere I'm having a flare up. Each one seems to take me 2 weeks+ to recover from. The last 2 of put me in the hospital. I was vomiting so much I couldn't hold down water. Endoscopy of course AGAIN shows mild gastritis, but I'm as nauseated as can be and I can hardly get through the day.

When it does come my appetite is so supressed, I'm scared to eat. I'm going through it right now (hence the websurfing as you guys/gals did) and I haven't eaten in a couple of days. So I first have to get over the gastritis, then I have to recover from the fast. My last one was 7 days before I returned to eating. I always end up so weak and tired and can't seem to function. They put me on anti-nausea pills, but they don't seem to help much. They do make me tired which is nice as without them I don't think I could sleep at all.

If you ever end up in a hospital and they offer you Reglan, just decline it. Worst medication EVER for me, I'll never do it again. Well, I actually just hope this thread continues because I need people who understand what I'm going through and that I can relate with. Everyone else just looks at me and they feel sorry that I feel so terrible, but there's not really a true sympathetic bond. "

" I FEEL YOUR PAIN! I've been dealing with Chronic Gastritis and IBS, Gerd, Hiaterl Hernia for 5 yrs...this has been my best year for sure! I would take Nexium...twice per day, that's what I'm on...and liquid carafate. I take I flora probiotics and 5mg of Elavil at night. Sweetie, I had the same exact questions as you...and they've never realy been answered. I wouldn't stress out in search...that will keep you from living if you are constantly seeking a cure. Evey single NATURAL remedy I found actually made it worse so I would stop...and of course be out all the money on it. I've spent a lot of money on my stomach! And I had this skillet gut before this, ate jalepenos whole, drank anything etc. I do not test positive for anything that causes it...he thinks I may have bile reflux which could trigger it. But boy once you get it...50% of people get rid of it and the others don't. You will get better...but it's just a life of hills and valley's! Love those hills, hate those valley's! Take your medicine, sleep well, take non acidic vit c to keep your immune system up...you don't want to go on an antibiotic! Excercise too...even if you don't feel like it...walking...a positive attitude..it all helps. I strive not to let it define me, it's just a condition I live with. But I do so remember the early days when I was about to pull my hair out! Wish I had known about this website then. It's comforting JUST TO KNOW...that others have the same thing and they too, don't know how it happened to them.

Blessings
glenda "
