I was just wondering if Gastritis and gerd were the same thing? If not do they often go hand in hand? I akways have the gerd symptoms but now and again I get the pain on the left.I have had gastritis before and it feels like that but the specialist didn't diagnose that. Help

Sory I dont know if they are the same thing. I get pains in my gut all over the place , especially under the rib cage, burning. had gastritis diagnosis, but thats as much as they have been able to tell me. good luck

Hi. I don't think they are since gastitis is the inflamation of the stomach lining and gerd is the backing up of stomach acid into the esophogus. The treatment of gerd usually is acid reducers which are usually used in the treatment of gastritis too. I've had gastritis most of my life so I definitely feel your pain. Hope you get feeling better.
