Hi I have been having stomache issues for over a year now. I have had a stomache emptying test done..normal. I have a Barium swallow, was normal. I have had both scopes done and it showed that I had espophagitis, gerd, and chronic gastritis. I have lost close to 40 lbs in efforts to help my situation. I was also taking aciphex that eventually did nothing for me anymore. I am currently taking Kapidex, its effectiveness is also begining to wear off. I have made life style changes I eat differently and it is slowly getting worse. I dont know what else to do. I am a mother of two children and I want my normal life back. If ANYONE has any suggestions and tried anything that has worked well for them would you please let me know. I want to be better for myself and my kids. I cant imagine living the rest of my life this way. Thanks for your time.

" Hi, I know what you are going through. For me taking acid reducers helped at first but I found out that taking them too long they actually made it worse. What I found by dumb luck is that I started to take calcium pills to supplement my diet because I couldn't drink milk no more and my gastritis seemed to improve. It's not gone completely but with proper diet it's alot better. I hope you get feeling better. :) "

" Like you guys I have had every test done to no avail. Next stop colonoscopy. I am told by my GI doc that stress plays a major role, I am going on 7 months with pains in my gut etc...no relief yet. "

" I so remember how you feel...mine was that way when it started...I'm taking 2 Nexium's per day and liquid carafate...it has helped so much...and a 1/2 of an Elavil at night for pain. Something for IBS too, called Lebramax I think...other than that, I take non acidic vitamin c, multi vitamin, probiotics (I Flora), and have finally been able to get back on some calcium chews. You have to be patient and give it some time..pray...sleep as much as possible...enjoy every good mintute...this stuff really makes you apprciate life and joy when it comes. Stay far away from alcohol, chocolate, nuts, or whole carrotts, any kind of roughage. I think carbonated drinks, especially with caffeine make it worse, although I drink sprites a lot now. Drink decaf green iced tea sweetened with honey too. God Bless. "

" I've been going through a similar ordeal as well. I think mine is actually gallbladder related but I was told I had Gastritis and nothing has worked so far. Did they test you for H.Pylori when the did the scope or via blood? H.Pylori is one of the most common causes of Gastritis and can only be treated with a combination of strong antibiotics and acid reducers. Just something to consider if you haven't already. From what I've learned, most gastritis is caused by something, i.e. medications or bacteria etc. I know it's hard to deal with. I have two children as well and I know it's so hard to feel like you are a good mom when you are so ill. The only things I've found to help at all is to try not to think about it too much (stressing about it makes it much worse), keep yourself busy, watch your diet, and get plenty of exercise (even if you don't feel like it...a nice long walk with the family does wonders) and sleep. Hang in there and know that you are not alone! "
