Hi there. My name is Kate, but I like going by a pen name of Takara... Anyhow I'm 25 years old and have a lot on my plate. During the week of Mother's Day I was diagnosed with Gastrititis after a scope. I also have Gastroparesis, GERD, severe asthma (had this since childhood), high blood pressure, glucose intolerance, Scheuermann's disease (back disorder--curvature of the spine), an irregular heart beat and non fatal heart murmur. I'm really frusterated because I have been having a lot of problems with my stomach. I was hospitalized a few weeks ago with a bad Gastroparesis attack, but I'm wondering if the Gastrititiss caused the problems. It's so hard to tell. I was in excruciating pain, had trouble walking, laughing, it even hurt to breathe. I was vomitting non stop and couldn't keep a thing down. I know that Gastroparesis can cause this too, but I am still wondering if Gastrititis is the culperate.

I was on Carafate in the hospital but it didn't do me any good. I was on GI cocktail mixtures and nothing helped. I still vomitted and had terrible pain. I was being given demerol to control my pain. I was even put on Nexium still nothing worked. The doctors were thinking that I had an adverse reaction to Erythromiacyn (I can't spell)... But it turns out I had a gastroparesis relapse and when I was given my domperidone (got it from Canada) the next day I was able to eat and felt ok... Until this past Sunday...

I was ill and was getting sick again--bringing up bile and in some pain.

What I don't understand is how to differentiate between Gastroparesis and Gastritis. Does anyone have any idea or have similar problems that they could share with me? I really feel alone in this. If anyone can help me I'd really be greatful.

Ty...

" Takara,
Have you had your gallbladder checked? I had a lot of vomiting until I had my gallbladder removed. Now I'm just dealing with nausea for the most part (from the gastroparesis/gastritis...I think those two just go together. If your food just sits in your stomach all day it's going to cause the stomach to be inflamed.) Just a thought. BTW, how do you get domperidone? I was prescribed an antibiotic for my gastroparesis, but antibiotics make me so sick. Hope you feel better soon! "

" Hi,
Yeah the doctors continuously draw blood and chk my gall bladder for problems, but they haven't found anything wrong. I spoke with my doctor today (had another relapse today) and he said that he's almost certain it's not my gall bladder, just the gastroparesis/gastrititis. You do make a good point though and I appreciate it!

Domperidone? You doctor or Gastroenterologist will recommend Domperidone if they think it is right for you. If they suggest you get it, you can get it through Canada. Let me give you the website I use for my medication: http://www.rx-canada.com. But you have to have a prescription first. There is also a toll free number: 18664562456 that you can call for the medication (I used the internet site). Technically the FDA still hasn't approved of this medication here in the States, but it is approved for use within other countries. It really upsets me that other countries are able to have this medication OTC while we can't even get this medication legalized here. I really hope that the website helps you out. Domperidone has really been helping me digest food again.

I'm so sorry to hear that you are having difficulties with antibiotics. I know I was on Erythromiyacin (however you spell it lol) and I had an adverse reaction to it (basically am alergic to it now). Maybe you could mention this pill (Domperidone)to your doctor and see what he or she says. Reglan is also used to treat gastroparesis, I was on that but had a terrible reaction to it as well.

See I was also told to get further information from Temple University in Pennsylvania. (http://tuh.templehealth.org/content/ ) So if you are finding that things aren't working for you, perhaps this siste might also help you.

Thank you so much for your comments! I really appreciate it ^_^ I'm glad to know I'm not alone, but saddened to hear you are suffering.

" Thanks marylisel! It's so good to know that I'm not alone and that you all know what I'm going through!

I'm struggling to hold the part time job I have. I'm still vomitting and it's so frusterating. I'm afraid because my 90 evaluation is almost up that I will be terminated because of my illness. My doctor won't put me out on disability even though I'm having a terrible time with these two disorders. I don't know what else to do with regards to that. Do either of you have any suggestions?

Thank you so much again for your support. I truly appreciate it. "

" Bummer that your doctor won't put you out on disability! Can you just have your doc write a letter to your employer stating the symptoms you have, the diagnoses you have, and that you have stayed in the hospital? Then take that letter and say to your boss that you demand accommodations (in the form of some time off) and that you are entitled to this under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which protects people with disabilites (in this case, your illness). You will have to go online and google it and read it/do some "homework" for awhile to really understand the concept. Try this website: http://www.eeoc.gov/types/ada.html
Or, google Family and Medical Leave Act (try this website: http://www.dol.gov/esa/whd/fmla/
Again you'll have to do some "homework" and see what you can pull together. Good luck! "

" Thanks so much! That helps a lot! ^_^ I think that the next time I go back to see the doctor (if I am still symptomatic) I will show him the work note and explain everything to him. Plus, I can use this information that you gave me with it. Thanks so much for everything! "

" WOW...bless your heart...and you're so young to be gonig through this. I'm taking 2 Nexium's per day, liq carafate, 1/2 Elavil for pain, and Lebramax for IBS. I too, got mild gastroparesis a few mos after my daughter gave me the tummy flu...it was horrible..but my stomach straightned itself out in one year, or less than...I lost a lot of weight. I would not take that concocktion to drink before you eat...you havea 1% chance of getting Parkinson's and I said no thank you! I just didn't eat much. I think the more you can walk, some type of exericse is helpful...but not abdominal stuff...don't loose faith, I will pray for you. God Bless. "

" hey takara,

celiac disease is when you're allergic to gluten, which is wheat protein. ask your dr. if he can check you for it. you might just want to cut out wheat out of your diet and cut out gluten-filled foods like bread. google celiac disease - it'll give you more info.

praying for you! hang in there girl. "
