Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
It's good to remember we are not doctors here, :). We are just a community of people who share the pain of gastritis.
As to taking digestive enzymes when you have a compromised gut, you have to be careful about dosage and timing.
I viewed this video on a website run by a couple of guys with digestive problems. http://scdlifestyle.com/?s=digestive+enzymes
Disclaimer: It is quite informative but not to be taken as medical treatment.
If you want to help things digest, use Source Naturals Essential Enzymes. I've been taking 4-6 of them before every meal for over a year now, they work better for me than Life Extension or NOW brands. And don't have the nasty rotten meat smell that some other brands have.
I checked out this product on Amazon, but it didn't list the ingredients, my naturopath gave Similase Sensitive Stomach, been takin since June. Take one at each meal except supper take two. Along with PenZIn GI at every meal. I've had less stomach discomfort after my meals. I not only have gastritis but also gastroparesis, is it recommend to take a PenZIn at bedtime, I saw you mentioned on a previous post you should take 4 a day.
There's no hard rule on when to take PepZin GI. For me it seems to work better between meals and before bed, and/or as I wake up.
As for Pepsin, I already told you in another thread that its for low-acid conditions, and it will cause damage to people with high-acid conditions.
In the future, fel free to send me personal messages for such questions, instead of hunting me in other people's forum threads.
