I need help, not just for me but for my kids. I have had a endoscopy about a year ago which showed signs of acid reflux. I was perscribed nexium which my insurance cancelled about 4 months into it. Haven't been taking it for 6 months and now starting to get pains in my stomach under left rib cage. ALSO little stabbing or burning pains in my chest AND lower abdomen area. Actually it can hurt anywhere on my torso. Are pains like that common with gastritis?? I'm a 36 year old male. Thank you for any help you can give...

" There can be such a rebound effect when you go off Nexium cold turkey like that. I did the same thing back in Sept. and it took until the end of November and more Nexium to fix it. Your symptoms sound like your gastritis has flared again. They mirror the symptoms I had. Insurance doesn't like to cover Nexium because it doesn't have a generic and it's really expensive. Average of $187.00 for 30 pills. You may be able to get Protonix or Zantac in place of it. Consult your doctor to see if you can get a substitute that will work and cost less money. Your insurance may cover that. Sometimes, if you find that another drug doesn't work your doctor can advise the insurance company that you need the original medication, and often they'll cover it. Good luck. "

" My doctor put me on a new drug since none of the others worked. It is called Kapidex and you can get a card from the Dr. or the company so that you only pay 25.00 a month. It is time released and has worked wonders!! "

" yes they are...did they see a hiatal with that...if so it will get worse...
with nexium...if you dont have insurance you can go to the company online (AstraZeneca)and look on your right for help affording your medicines and fill an application to get free or a small paying amount for the cost...nexium is what I took for the acid reflux..never worked for the gastritis...good luck...
