For the past year on some nights I wake up with this horrible pain in the middle of my chest,it feels like a have a vise clutching the inside. Then on my back same spot as my chest I have the same pain. It hurts so bad that it keeps me awake for the remainder of the night. I have gastoritus but this dont feel like the same thing. So I started wondering what I did differently on those nights that I got the pain. I came to the conclusion that its only when I have consumed milk based products. So I experimented a cpl of nights, and ate some cereal with milk and woke up with the pain. The next night I didnt have any milk at all at least 5 hours b4 bed. No pain. 2 nights ago I ate a fudge-sicle and woke up that night with the pain. Any ideas what this could be? Its horrible....and it sucks becuz sometimes I forget and drink milk with cereal or something then pay for it that night,lol-But anyways any suggestions will be appreciated and sorry this is so long.

Sorry to hear you're having a rough time. It could be that you're lactose intolerant. That can cause severe heartburn. For some reason, ice cream and milk especially cause nausea and heartburn for me, so I'm thinking you've probably got the same thing that I do. Talk to your doctor about it as soon as possible. Chocolate can also cause acid reflux/heartburn. Have you tried antacids? What medication are you on for your gastritis? Some of those can make heartburn worse too.
Good luck!
