I have Family Medical Leave at work as well as 6 weeks vacation/sick time at my job... I was wondering how long I should ask off from work to recovery from my RNY surgery? Someone said it would be at least 3 weeks...and I've read other places that people needed 4 to 6 weeks off work? I would appreciate your comments on how long it took for you to recover to return back to work.

Everyone is different. I was ready to go back beofre the week was up- I was soooo bored. I took 2 weeks and I was fine. I also sit at a desk so if you are on your feet all day or lifting or exerting I would take more time. You wont know how you feel until afterwards or if your job requires for you to put down low long- then I woul put the max down and then come back early with a doc's excuse stating it was ok.
