Hi Everyone, I'm new to the group and am scheduled to have my RY on Tuesday the 10th at 2 P.M. Once I made up my mind to do this all the pre stuff went really fast, (about 5 weeks.) I have been too busy to think about it much but now that it is close I'm beginning to feel some anxiety. Not wanting to back out or anything like that, just normal surgery anxiety. I also feel like I no longer have a sense of what my future looks like. What will life be like when I am not food focused? I look forward to and welcome the changes but it is a strange, strange feeling to not know where all that energy I put into food is going to go. Thanks for listening. I've been stalking you guys for a few days now and love how most posts are so honest, positive and informative.

" OMG girl you must be so excited/scared. I know I am and I have 9 days to go. I am like you...what does the future hold? I read the posts here and honestly I can't even imagine being 100 lbs lighter, much less more than that.

What will it be like to be able to do, well anything. I really just exist now.

I will keep you in my thoughts and be sure and post how you are as soon as you feel up to it.

" Congrats on the upcoming surgery, and stepping into your new life!

We all have had those same concerns, and yes, with food NOT being a focus it is different, but honestly, I felt it was a huge relief. Less effort mentally to stay on track, and resist those tempting foods. Greater results, and so much quicker...what's not to love?

And, by the way, in time....months out probably....you will still enjoy food, and think most of us would agree. But you become more selective, careful to get nutrition packed foods into your daily intake, and other things become MORE important than the next treat or huge meal.

You will have more energy, in time, and probably find yourself interested in things you hadn't participated or thought much about before. It really will open new doors.

I'm excited for you. Let us hear from you with an update once you feel up to it.

" As Cindy says, those thoughts are part of being human(and fat). You've done all the hard work really including the waiting! Let the Dr do the rest and use this site for quetions and fears. There are some very organized and professional teachers here that love to help people like us. I've have and continue to learn more here at DS than I did from my Dr's nutritionist.

A little advise, enjoy the morphine because there will be some soreness after your home.

Good luck
Brett

" I remember being scared and excited as well. My surgery was 10/13/2009 and I don't regret anything. I'm done over 40 lbs already. Good luck and keep us posted. Mike "
