I am not vegan, and am curious how will you get in the recommended amount of protein daily? I have a few reservations about veganism after gastric bypass because of that.

Just curious...have you checked this out with your Doc? True Vegan is absolutely nothing from animals. Is that your intent? No dairy as well? Wondering how much beans & soy stuff one has to eat to make up for the loss of protein?

Especially since rice, pasta and bread is not recommended after GBS.

I would be interested in knowing also if there are any post gastric bypass patients that have successfully transitioned to becoming a Vegan and are how they are meeting the protein requirements. When I can afford it, I buy organic chicken and organic grass fed beef. I also eat tofu and am starting to eat more fish. Whether you are a meat eater or a vegan, it's the refined carbs and sugar that can put on the pounds. My doctor is having me count my calories and not eat more then 1,200 calories per day.

I’ve been a jack vegan for the most part for several years. Jack vegan, meaning that a good 90+ percent of my food is green or veggies etc. Most of my protein comes from soy (tofu) and any fish with omega 3/6 oils/fats. Once in awhile I will consume a dead cow or pig but judging by the following bowel movements I just don’t think humans were meant to eat primarily dead crap. Now I’m no expert but my mentor is Robert Young (PH Miracle). I highly recommend you ALL at least check out his concept, book and website. Most fascinating with this guy is his understanding of how & WHY fat is created and stored in the human body. Not to mention how fats or E.F.A. oils (i.e. omega 3/6/9 & GOOD FATS) are used for fuel or energy.
As far a protein is concerned, the greatest misunderstanding in the SAD (Standard American Diet) is that live food or veggies do not have protein. You have only to look at the strength of a gorilla to realize a plant diet produces muscle mass just fine. Loving you all and still highly medicated and loving it!
