Or would you have bought them if you were still pre-op?

--Something like my panda pillow pic - but with several zip pockets for your personal items to take with you to the hospital. Pillow + storage.

--A water bottle which limits your sips to a certain, adjustable amount so you can't accidentally take a too-big sip.

--A wristband that you can set to beep to alert you to take a sip of water, to use at least until you've been "trained" to sip at regular intervals to prevent dehydration. It could also attach to the water bottle.

" No, not me. I don't think that its necessary at all. I was on a drip IV until I went home, so hospital dehydration isn't too big an issue. I was sipping frequently too, but its not that big a deal to need a timer. Kinda like all those millions of baby products us new parents have to swim through, only to discover they are just novelty and not practical. I used the 1 oz medicine cups the hospital provided, easy to sip too big on those water bottles.

I was advised not to bring personal items beyond my pillow, because the possibility of things being stolen when your out walking in the halls. "

" I'm sorry to say but I don't think that any of those things are something I would have purchased. You really don't need much when you go into the hospital. And when you are getting ready to leave you really wish you didn't have as much as you do. And as far as the bottle idea, I think that by the time you have surgery you are so aware of what you are doing that there is no need for it. And a simple digital wristwatch could do the same as the third. I think it is great to have a mind that is thinking up things like this though. Better luck next time.

" My friend and sons kept track for me, even though I did not ask them to do this, to let me know when i need to take sips of liquids during the day and night. I just got sleep and one of them comes to wake me up. I told them i am not going to dehydrate by not drinking liquids. "

" I was only in the hospital (or, "in hospital" if you're in the UK) for 1.5 days so there was not much time for anything other than walking.

Once I got home, the pain I experienced taking too big of a drink quickly trained me to take small sips.

As for timing water, I knew I had to drink 2 liters per day. I tried not to focus on timing sips but rather

I did take one device with me however. Knowing that a hospital room is filled with machines that go beep, I took a timer - not to time anything but simply to play "hide and go beep" with the staff. Great fun. "

" Callie, you mentioned having stuff stolen - that was the point of the pillow. You can hide stuff in there.

The water, not talking about the hospital at all. I mean for after the hospital. I keep reading here, about people getting dehydrated b/c it's so hard to get the liquids in OR taking big sips by accident. I think they're very good ideas, TYVM but I shall keep my ideas to myself in the future. "
