Losing inches when we don't lose lbs.

Just a reminder to take your measurements, monthly (or so), as you will often see success with the tape measure, when the scales slow down or don't move at all.

I have been doing this, and keeping track, but just tonight added up the total amount of lbs. I knew I was dropping inches in the hips and legs from all the walking, but in fact, it was balanced out. 8 1/2" in the bust, 8 " from the waist, and another 8" from the hips. Over 24" total. I'll take it.

Since I only weigh myself once a month, I tend to measure about halfway through the month, as sort of a check on how I'm doing.

" Callie,
How are you measuring your pannis? Just lower than your hip measurement or using some other means?

" Frenchy,
How far out from surgery are you? It IS amazing when we stop and apply "people" to our weight. I've lost a pre-teen child myself! :-)

" Yes, Yes and YES!!!

Not just the numbers on the scales, but the tape measure numbers, the clothes size numbers, the permagrin on our faces!!! It all adds up (or with us would be: It all subtracts down!?!) "

" Dont forget to measure - yes - YOUR HEAD! I have lost inches there as well. I no longer have a neck roll at the base of my skull, and my swim cap now fits properly. "

" This may sound weird, but the way that I measure my pannis is by putting the measuring tape at the crease underneath, right above my hair line which is my c-section scar line too. Then bring it up to my belly button. So its a U shaped type of measurement. I just wanted to measure it to see if the length of it would ever shrink. I've had a pannis since I was 8 years old. I've only lost 4 inches off it, so it still hangs pretty low, so to me it has deflated instead of shrunk up the skin. More evidence I am submitting for the lower body lift I want to have done. Showing that there is so much skin I can't lose it without having it surgically removed. If I were to measure my hips under my pannis instead of over it like I do, My hips would be 38" instead of 43". "

" wow Cindy, I am thrilled for you. Congrats on approaching onederland in time for Christmas. That is just wonderful my dear.

You know I didnt know what a pannis was till I joined this site. Surgery was 6/09. I have not had rashes like Callie did, I guess that is what makes it a medical neccessity.
I think I will be stuck with it tho
You know its funny. We start off as fat, body looks awful. We have GBS surgery. Start to look good with clothes but naked look worse everything all saggy and stretched out.
Well health benfits are the #1 priority not the damage I did to myself. Sorry for length of post it just got me thinking.
xoxoxo
