Wow good for you. My goal has been to get to 140, 145. I think that would be an ideal weight for me.
My Drs have never mentioned a weight for me, maybe when I go back in January.
I think it's good to stay where you are comfortable, I wouldn't want to look sickly.

My doctors response to the goal weight question surprised me too. I'm 8 months out, down 137 lbs also. From 344 lbs to 207 lbs. But I am taller than you, at 5'10". My surgeon told me when I weighed 215 lbs that she considered me a complete success and that I may lose 10 more pounds by my one year mark. So she expects me to hang out at about 205 lbs. Which is disappointing to me, because my personal goal is to be 174 lbs to get into that normal category for BMI. Or at least make it to onederland. So your surgeon expects more of you, and mine expects less. I suppose we should work out our final weights for ourselves. But one thing I am most glad of is not to be obese anymore. To lose more weight I suppose is just an added bonus to me at this point.

I have my own personal goal that is 200lbs (currently 446), but my surgeon hasn't given me a goal. It will be interesting to hear what it is though. I am 5'11'' and I think that a goal of 200 is pretty reasonable. I think that to be a normal weight I would have to be 165. But I don't see that happening, but maybe. Losing 250 pounds is going to be a task so I will just leave my goal right where it is.

I wanted to have a normal BMI which for someone 5'2" would be 137, i am stuck between 146-151 depending on the day and time of the month. When i discussed with my surgeon he was thrilled with my success and admitted the only way i would see 137 was if i had a tummy tuck which is about 10-14 additional pounds. So now I am considering that surgery. BUT to be honest i dont think i weighed this little 146-151 since I was 13 years old so I am not complaining. Be realistic about your goal dont go by the charts or a doctor that says 120-130, thats a doctor who is putting unnecessary stress on you. Never in a million years did i think i would be fitting in size 10 jeans, sometimes size 8 depending on the make.

I am in Christine's boat...I'm 5'2" but honestly would be happy w/ 150...that's what I weighed in High School....I have a huge pannus which will not go away w/out plastic surgery...I can guarantee you it's at least 15 lbs right there..... My surgeon has not focused on a goal yet, but I have my 8 mo check up next week...so we'll see if he starts pushing numbers!!! :) Great job everyone...WE ROCK!!!

I was 279 when I had surgery. I'm now 209....down 70 pounds in 5 months. I'm hoping to be about 170, but I know I should be less. I haven't been 170 since college so if I can make it there I will be happy. I'm 5'6".

When my sister asked me what my goal weight would be, I had told her 150 would be good!! More realistic would be about 175-180. I know that's a high weight (I'm 5 ft 6 in.), but I'm trying to be realistic. I don't plan on being a super model by any means!
As of now my surgeon hasn't set a 'goal' weight, but he might today at my 12 week check up. I will let you know!
Hugs,
Peggy

I'm only 5'2", no one gave me a goal and I'm at 177 and feel better than I have in my life.. I also have a tummy that will never go away without surgery and I plan on never having another surgery if I have my way. My life is too good as it is and if I never lose another lb..I'm good with that..if I do...I'm good with that too!!!

Well I am a little different than some on there. My original weight was 205, but because I had co-morbidities such as diabetes, high blood pressure for 14 years and GERD, I qualified for GBS. My surgeons goal weight for me was 140 and I am 5'4". I have a medium to large frame and he thought this was a healthy weight for me. Well with all the setbacks and problems I have had, I reached below my goal weight within 3 1/2 months and am already at 130. I have absolutely no interest in losing any more weight, but would just like to firm up all of this loose skin!!! I am finally back on the right track and am able to eat after months of problems with not being able to eat, nausea and having no sense of taste. I have an ulcer and have been hospitalized for a week in October. But am happy to report all is FINALLY GOING GOOD FOR ME THANK GOD. So to anyone who is having troubles, hang in there. Things are temporary and will get better. Lisa

Way to go Lisa, and to all others, Congrats!!! My doc asked what I thought my goal should be and I told him I really didn't know, but was thinking about 145. He agreed that this was a good goal. Now that I'm there, I decided to go 5 lbs lower and the nut. said that this would put me in better shape re: BMI etc and thought this was an even better idea. I once got down to 130 but immediately turned around and went back up. I do not think that that was a realistic goal for me. I am very happy with where I am and just wish to stabilize and stay put! Soooo happy!!!!!!
