I've heard alot about flax seed. Does anyone know if we can digest it or how to cook with it? I hear it's full of fiber, which I certainly need.

" My clinic gave it to me, anticipating constipation after surgery. I put it in my cream of wheat that I had every day. It did help keep everything moving! "

" You have to get the flax meal, not flax seed. Your body doesn't break down the seed, so it goes in one end and out the other. lol! You can either grind it up in a blender, coffee grinder or something like that...or buy it as flax meal. I use it all the time. It is also good for Omega 3 fatty acids and is good for menopause. Yeah, I'm there...

" PLEASE REMEMBER!

DO NOT use Flax seed/meal and protein supplements together!!!!

Protein binds to the Flax and is carried straight thru the digestive tract without ever getting metabolized!!!

Flax is a great fiber source tho!!!

God Bless!

" Once you grind it to to a powder, you just sprinkle it on any food. My husband had a heart attack a few years ago, I was told that flax is very good for him, so I started using it. I bought a coffee grinder and I grind it up and store it in the frig in a air tight container. You can sprinkle it on anything. I put in in yogurt, cereal, any sauce you make. As long aqs there is a liquid to put it in, it does not have a taste. Start out slow, putting it on one thing per day. If you can tolerate that add it to another item per day. "

" If you look in the baking section of your grocery store you should be able to find "Bob's Red Mill Flaxseed meal" (it is ground flax seed)It has a yummy flax muffin recipe on the side of the package. Substitute any sugar for baking Splenda and your set and ready to "GO" I also put it in my yogurt. Another good source of fiber and I find easy on my pouch is spinach, and wheat germ. "
