Do I need to go to the ER?

I'm 6 weeks out today. Since Sunday I have had some issues with eating solids- I can eat only about an oz then I feel horrible, then it takes 3-4 hours to move through. This has never been an issue, I have tolerated everything up until this point. So I thought I would stick to liquids/soft for a couple days. I have been getting my fluids, protein, and vitamins in. But it seems since I started this the less and less fluids I can take in. I'm not vomiting, just feels like after 1 sip it's coming back up so I stop. Even though I'm getting 64 oz of fluids I'm not peeing a lot, maybe 3-4 times a day. Yesterday I had the worst situation with constipation even, had to go home from work early, hurt to sit. Finally I juiced a watermelon and added ground flax seed, it worked itself out but was incrediably painful (I had already tried Miralax for 3 days). Today it all got a lot worse, I managed to drink half an isopure ready mix (20g of protein about 80 calories) and I franks about 32 oz of straight water. I've had lightheadedness for about 3 weeks, it's not better or worse. I called my surgeon's office, he and his nurse are out of town and I was told the nurse would be back tomorrow morning, would review, and call me back. I asked if I should go to the ER and was told 'everyone is different so it would be best for the nurse to review it tomorrow'. I came home early from work agian, am laying down, trying to get more fluids. I'm just worried something is wrong but I don't know how to explain how I feel. I'm hoping the nurse will give me some guidance tomorrow morning.

" I think you are doing everything right. I have had a hard time keeping things down especially water. I am drinking a protein drink in the morning but other things come up. My Dr. said to go back to liquids and then work up again....hang in there "

" It sounds llike some kind of obstruction. If you think you can't wait til the nurse calls you tomorrow, you should go to yhe ER. "

" They called me back and sent me to the ER. Which is where I am waiting for a ct scan and a barium study (eww, not looking forward to that). Thanks ladies, hoping I get out in time for work tomorrow. "

" No answers yet, completed a swallow test with a barium pill, waiting on the results of that test. They said I was a little hydrated but I've had 2 1/2 bags and only peed 3 times, and not a ton. So where is all those fluids going? They still might scope, I'm waiting for the dr for more answers and solutions. :-/ I am just afriad they will find nothing, and think I came in for nothing and not take my concerns seriously in the future. Not that I want them to find something wrong, but I know something isn't right. I'll keep you all posted, thank you all for the support! "

" Hang in there girl!! I had alot of the same issues at around 6 weeks and ended up in the hospitol. I had a small stricture which the dr. stretched and am doing sooo much better. It took them 4 days to find this out though. You know your own body better than anyone so do whatever it takes!!! Good luck and get well soon!!! "

" I would definitely call your doctors office again in the morning. I would not wait for them to call you. I just wonder if you are developing a stricture. "
