Well I had surgery on Monday. I have been in significant pain since then. They had to use a pretty strong med in the hospital. It was stronger than morphine. It was helping. Yesterday I got taken off my iv's and they took my drain out. The hour ride home was just unbearable. I desperately want to rest but I can't because it hurts. I also have a fever of 101. I'm goin to keep an eye on it all.

Thanks for thinking of me!
Kim

" Kim I am so sorry you are going though this. Just a thought perhaps call your Doctors office before they close today? They may be able to give you something more effective for pain management. I read here and there that proper pain management helps the healing process. Also you do not want this geting worse when the office is closed many emergency depts do NOT know how to deal wtih us and potentially make it worse. I do sympathise with the ride home mine was 3 hrs made worse by an extra hour for the hotel shuttle to take us back there first. I did get lucky the nurse thought ahead and even though I had not had pain meds since 12 hrs post op she gave me a prn and said trust me you will need this .........she was so smart lol Good luck sweetie remember your docs there to make things better. " The fevor was what i was concered with too Bonie but when your pain is bad you can have an elivated temp. It could be an infection though thats the scarry part if its internal it could go full system in a flash. Call your doc honey keep us posted you will be ok just always keep a jump on health stuff no question or concern is ever ever stupid. "

" Okay, I know you are probably resting but I am concerned they sent you home in such rocky shape. Glad for the new pain meds, hope they do the trick. DO NOT HESITATE to make some noise if your pain is not under control, adequate pain management is part of the patient's bill of rights and all of us medical types know it. But many docs do not have enough instruction in pain management so you have to be your own advocate sometimes (use your hubby while you stay lying down!) Hopefully the fever subsides quickly but honestly, post-op with a fever I would not have discharged you so don't let it go for long while they "watch" it. Your BP will go up with pain but generally, not your temp. So check it and get help if it doesn't go down within 24 hours of its beginning. "

" So sorry you're not feeling well!

I had a fever when I was 3 days post op. Dr. told me not to forget deep breathing. It can be uncomfortable, but if your not deep breathing your lungs will fill with fluid, causing a fever. Try it every hour, 10 deep breaths. See if that helps and if not call the doctors.

Hope you feel better soon. "

" Call the doctor - I had a fever too and it was a signal for an infected incision. Not trying to scare you (easy to handle even if that is what's wrong), just saying, make the call.

Good luck! "

" So sorry you are having such a rough time. I am glad you are in contact with the Dr. but continue to keep an eye on everything and call the dr. again if you do not get relief and still are running a fever. That should not be happening. Make sure you are keeping hydrated! Hugs to you!! Feel Better. "
