Dear Dad,
It’s been so many years since I last saw you. I miss you every day.
Do you miss me too?
I often tell my boys of the family adventures we had when I was young.
Do you even know I have 3 sons now?
I am sure you remember my first born and the day you pressed his tiny newborn feet
into the cool wet cement of the sidewalk you were building on that sunny spring morning,
as he cried...
AdvertisementBarely a whisper… he calls
Me by name, so soft, yet
Big and strong, ever so present,
Watching my every move.
Don’t look his way; you’ll catch a glimpse like
A window into his soul.
You’ll see sweetness, and smoothness, and
Spicy delights…
Beckoning you to come near. Just
One step… then another…
You reach out…
Touching hardness, abrup...
A childhood friend
‘Tis an Oak, old and majestic, hundreds of years if a day,
Standing in my childhood grove.
T’was a playground of sorts, for our daydreams and fancies,
As sure as the tides of the sea.
We skittered into branches, making believe we were monkeys
In search of the perfect perch,
Tossing oak helicopters we’d collected on our scamper,
Solely to witness the...
Listen with Care
A rhythmic pluck.
A harsh tone.
A clear key.
A heavy note.
A shrill strand.
A breathy vocal.
A rounded bong.
A vivid timbre.
A romantic cord.
A gentle sound.
So very small.
Quick as a wink.
Just a moment in time.
We listen to music all strung together, often forgetting the parts of its sum.Hard Day
Everything's hard
Grounds hard
Heads hard
Homework is hard
Class is hard
Walking is hard
Thinking is hard
Life is hard... today
Tomorrow's a new day
What will it hold?
Maybe some soft :)Not good enough
I work so hard
I keep on trying
It's not good enough
Now tears fall
I try to fight them
they roll down my face
they just won't stop
Have to feel the hurt
so I can get mad
turn tears around
find my courage
I know it's there
I'm sure I'll find it
The strength I need
To do enoughTHE DANCE
exchanging glances
Shuffling feet
Swaying to the tempo
Cheek to cheek
Holding on tight
Together in the heat
strangers become friends
Bodies bumping to the beat
Where are my hands?
Giggles and smiles
Let me find my feet
This could go on for miles
Please pull the chain
This is getting gritty!
Thats what its like
Taking the bus in the city!A little girl
all of 12
a grown woman?
only in her mind
thinking of love
desiring attention
feeling grown up
just a little girl
32 and grown
a man in age
giving her attention
taking her soul
she thought it was love
she thought she gave willingly
she thought she understood
she thought he was wise
he took advantage
he took her courage
he took her strength
he took her virginity
shes grown now
a woma...
The light inside
Inside of me
there is a light
sometimes its dim
others its bright
it wavers inside
like the ocean tides
washing back and forth
trying not to hide
