Does the addict start with the first lie. Where did all your money. Last month I made up and excue before my sister could ask me the question.
This month. I so afraid. She will ask and thinking up mores lies to tell her. I only been gambling for Two monthes and that is two months to long. When do not have casino in Texas. I go to an Amusement center. They pay you out in groceries. So been easy to cover My tracks. But, I have become such a lier. I not in very big debt. But, I only have thirty dollars to my name and it is only the seventh of the month. I went through about 300.00 in two days. I know that not alot to some people. But it everything. I have to live on for a month and it,s gone and Ican,t tell my sister truth or she will kill me. For being so stupid. Posted on 11/08/09, 12:11 am |

No Gail, your sister won't kill you, she will hug you and know you need help and lots of love. Well you can live on rice and beans for a long time with 30 dollars so you won't starve but that isn't the message. Why put yourself through this? I've done it and am in recovery now on my two weeks without the "monster" and perhaps you can find a Gamblers Annon there or even AA meeting because they go by the 12 steps. One day at a time says it all. If I had to think about next week it would overwhelm me. Just think about now. Hugs and prayers to you my friend.

You're really fortunate......You've only lost a few hundred dollars, and already you see the damage that compulsive gambling does to us. You've gotten off cheap, others have lost thousands, homes, relationships, jobs......some even lose their freedom or their lives.
Forget about any ideas you might be holding on to about maybe trying again and winning your money back......it's not gonna happen.....you'd only lose even more. Your money is lost and gone. You say you only gamble at the amusement center? Are you "amused" enough yet? Have you had enough "fun"?.....don't go back to that place, you don't belong there. Next time you get an idea about maybe going there again come here instead and read what you've written above....... it didn't work this time and it's not going to work next time either. Some people can gamble responsibly and others cannot. You seem to be in the second category. Agree? Therefore, your only solution is to NOT place that first bet. NEVER. Be grateful, it could be a whole lot worse.........you've learned a lesson relatively cheaply....... enjoy your rice and beans. Keep in touch, let us know how you're making out. Be well.

Gail, this group has lots of good advice and success stories - my goal is to be able to share my success story with those who are struggling. Right now I am not there - but I am determined. Hopefully your sister will understand the disease you are battling. This is my 3rd day with no gambling - but I plan to keep going (day by day). Hugs and prayers and wishes for the best - may you have the strength to overcome this.
