Advice:
How do I deal with the depression?

I promised myself along time ago that I was going to quit gambling and as of yesterday I have made that promise to myself once again. I am not sure what I need right now other than the support of people dealing with the same addictive behaviour. I am so angry with myself for all the money and time wasted. But being angry doesn't help. I need to start fresh with things in place to help me get through this. I have to pick myself up and move forward. I need someone to share my ordeals and hopefully triumphs with. Over a year ago I did go to a GA meeting. However, I know the person that chairs the meeting and do not wish to attend these meetings. Thank you for listening.

" Welcome Anneyv - it seems to help me to keep in touch with other compulsive gamblers, so I come here almost on a daily basis. As long as I'm not gambling I know things are going to be better, today, Tomorrow isn't here, yet, no need to worry about it, yesterday is gone, can't get it back, so today is what I focus on, one day at a time. Today I will not gamble, it's a pledge, of sorts. And what I like to call, powerful words, healing words. Although there isn't a cure for my addiction, I do know there is a better life for me, if I do not gamble. Thanks for sharing, we're here for you, and need you as much as you need us, I hope :) Hugs "

" Hello Anneyv and welcome to DS. I sincerely understand everything that you said. Past mistakes are lessons learned, and help us morph into better people who can help others. That is what I believe. Dealing with depression can be tough, but it doesn't have to be. Exercise some faith in your Higher Power and begin praying and believing. Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible. It can and will happen if you believe. Anything worth living for is worth fighting for and anything worth fighting for is worth living for. I hope this makes sense to you. You have to be strong, and that is hard when you are weak. Do not fall into that dark hole of depression any longer. It is not worth it, and you are worth so much better and more than that. Remember this always, and when you are feeling down, remember it again! Hugs and kisses to you.........mamabear21:-) "

" I am not sure where you live but many areas have multiple GA meetings, they just might help. I agree the best hting to do right now is move forward and try to not look back. Welcome to the group you will find support here. "
