I had surgery to remove my gallbladder in April. I thought it would be the answer to all my prayers but i'm so disappointed. I still can't eat spicy or greasy foods and can't tolerate alcohol at all. If I eat spicy foods or grease or if I drink alcohol I end up with diarrhoea for days aferwards and my stomach really aches. I've just come back from Turkey and it totally runied my holiday. I'm off work now because I feel so ill. I've just spoken to the nurse at my surgery and she wants me to do a stool sample to see if I've got an infection. I'm also awaiting a scan to see if there's anything wrong, but i don't hold out much hope. I think this is going to be it for ever now. Is anyone else finding that they still can't eat certain foods or drink certain drinks. The only saving grace after my surgery is that I don't suffer those awful attacks any more. I'm so depressed...

Oh hun that sounds horrible,i really hoped surgery will help you.
Maybe its something unrelated to your gallbladder and hopefully the tests will give you some answers. xxx

I had my gallbladder out on 27th June,2002 and have been in constant pain ever since. I had to have mine out the open way with a 10 inch cut under the right ribs and the pain is knife twisting with burning. I was looking forward to being pain free but now suffering chronic pain,my life is ruined. Everything I have had done,has failed eg.surgery,nerve blocks. I am on a lot of pain meds. I was told recently that you still have to be careful with what you eat even once having it removed,but my problem is the constant pain. I am woken up also every night and get 2 hours sleep if I'm lucky. I also recently found out that up to 40% of people have ongoing problems after having their gallbladder out. There is a problem called 'Post Cholysystectomy Syndrome" which is a group of symptoms after having gallblaldder out. If interested you may like to google it.
