Advice:
How do I avoid this awful pain?
Watch this
View More Posts Ignore
Hi All,

I woke up at 1.30 a.m. with the pain again in my chest, stomach and back, I felt sick and couldn't lie or sit comfortably. It went on for hours. I've had this before but I think the longest it has lasted is an hour. Is there anything I can do to avoid this pain or something I can do to ease it when it does come on?

Thanks
Jules

" Things that helped me through bad pain attacks were, painkillers or buscopan which helped sometimes with the spasms of the gallbladder. Warm baths also helped, and a wheatbag or hot water bottle.

I've been told moving around helps some people,or hanging off the door frame...sounds odd but nurse at hospital said it used to help move the stones and ease the pain. "

" Hot showers help for a while, often good until the painkillers kick in. I read that apple juice helps so I started keeping it in the house and take my herbs and ibuprofen with it and it does seem to help. I buy the natural pressed apple juice, not sure if it makes a difference, but I thought apple juice in it's purest form is the best. I don't want to push products on this site and offend anyone, but if you'd like to know what herbs I take send me a message and I'll let you know privately. When I take them consistantly they really do help. My problem is that I'm not always consistant. I too have found that moving helps a lot. I've even resorted to doing crunches during an attack and it helps...I started that after I heard on the radio that drinking beer and jumping on a trampoline helps kidney stones, so I figured what the heck, crunches should help push along a gallstone right??? LOL..funny the logic we put ourselves through! Good luck, hope this helps! "

" I do the hot bath and painkillers thing.

I find that my attacks are caused more often by overeating than particularly fatty foods.

But stay away from the fatty fast food if you can, that does it for me almost every time. "

" The same thing happend to me, i checked into the hospital and just after i had my gallbladder removed they thought that maybe one escaped and stayed behind in my cystic duct area. they did 2 MRI's. the first was messed up because i was in pain just like you the second time it passed. I had a bowel movement. it might have passed through my rectum. You might want to try having a bowel mov't. there are a few of ways if you can't get one started. 1) murel Lax (White bottle with purple top - powdered substance that you mix with water to loosen your stools 2) Glycerine Suppository - insert up in your rectum lay on your left side with right knee bent up towards your stomach and insert and hold for 15 minutes ( you can also take this with murel lax - over the counter purchase at CVS pharmacy or any store that sells it near you). 3) the Bomb - warm milk and malasses I'm not sure which one you pour in first, ask your doctor about it. take a suringe or something and pour one of the substances first into your rectum ( you might need help - ask someone you can trust or have your parents (mom) help you out); make sure you lay on your left side with your right knee bent up to your stomach. I had this pain like i said before, the second time and the doctors said it was from the anesthesia and other medicines that they gave me that made me feel really backed up. when the pain got worse that's when i knew something else was wrong so i went back to the hospital for the 3rd time. after doing all of that vomiting and taking it slow iwth clear liquids - i finally had to do number 2 in the bathroom ( i'm not trying to grosse you out but this is what happend to me when i was in pain and stayed in the hospital for a week) I also drank apple juice , but drink it warm not cool or cold otherwise it will take a few days to work if at all.
