IBS, colitis and gall stones~ surgery affects?

Hello,
I am looking for information/resources and personal experieces from people who have IBS and have gall stones or had their gall bladder removed due to gallstones. Are there alternative treatments other than surgery to remove the gall bladder? I really would prefer to keep all my body parts. My main concern is how removing my gall bladder might affect my IBS. From the information I have gotten from various sources it shouldn't be a problem with the colitis but no body seems to have information about IBS. Any assistance/suggestions will be greatly appreciated!! It is my understanding that 3-5 % of people with 'normal'GI tracks will have chronic diarrhea after gall bladder removal. Since my GI track is far from 'normal' I am very concerned about removing my gall bladder. I have also been told that once you have a gall bladder attack you have nearly a 100% chance of having another. (I have had 3 in one week but have not had another for almost a month) Thank you for your input and suggestions. Warmly, Jeanine Posted on 05/19/08, 06:05 pm |
