Hello
Has anyone taken Prilosec OTC for GERD, and how many doses did you take before it started to work? Today was day 4 for me and I have not noticed any change in symptoms.

" The only thing that works for me is Aciphex. I have tried them all. I take my aciphex in the morning. Some suggest taking your PPI then before a meal take some mylanta, gaviscon etc to help if you need extra protection. Its a matter of trial and error finding the right drug.
Once the drug company sent me omerprazole as a generic for aciphex,. It didnt work I tried it for a week.. If your meds isnt working try aciphex or take an antiacid before each meal. "

" Prilosec OTC, Nexium, and now Zegerid (which I have been on for 2 1/2 weeks) None of these has worked for me. This is what has worked: Not eating after 3:00 in the afternoon and giving up wine and spicey food have made a difference. Also elevating my bed helps. I am sick of this life style. I really enjoyed cooking dinner for my family, having a glass of wine with my husband at night, and eating what I wanted. Now I hate cooking and don't even look forward to the evenings. I was diagnosed with Barretts, (non dysplasia) and esophagitis and gastritis. I NEVER had an issue with digestive problems until I started getting pain in my chest. Because I am a runner, thin, and healthy 53 year old woman with great Cholesterol, HDL and LDL numbers, my DR. was not concerned with heart issues. I had an endoscope done and got this diagnoses. Anyway, keep trying other drugs, hopefully one of them will work better for you than what I've tried. "
