I have found that the prscription omeprazole or Nexium will work better than Prilosec OTC.

I agree.......my doctor prescribes me Omeprazole which I believe is the generic form of Prilosec.......it does work very well!!! I wouldn't be without it!!

Hi.. I started on Nexium, but cant afford the high cost of it, So I tried prilosec otc... Works pretty good for me so far and Ive been useing it for about 3 months now. No heartburn with it, but still have a little of the indigestion, and bloating.Just have to really watch the diet. Hope you find relief soon!

The otc prilosec does not work very good.I take prescription nexium and prevacid,which works better.If I do not take it within 30 minutes of getting up in the morning,my stomache tells me about it.

I wonder if the other meds (other than prilosec otc would keep indigestion and bloating down better? Ill ask my doc about the Omeprazole.

The only experience I have is with the Omeprazole which is prescribed by my doctor for Prilosec. It worked for me right away with the first dosage. I guess maybe everyone's system is different. I would ask your doctor........maybe for you the others would work better, I don't know. I don't have any knowledge about the other meds. since this is working so well for me that is all I have taken (omeprazole) I hope you find something that works for you.....not fun.........I had indigestion pretty bad before I took it and now I have none!!

Hi. I take prescription Prilosec and I think that it started working in 7 days. And for me it works really well I don't have any major side effects. It controls the syptoms for me well.

I take OTC Prilosec and it has worked wonders for me. The first time I took it, it took a few days to really kick, but once it did I'm heartburn/acid reflux free.

I have been taking Prilosec for 15 days for Acid Reflux. It is not helping any and I feel my symptoms are getting worse. Have any of you here ever had Reflux to the point of making your ribs and sterum hurt and hurts to lay down at night to sleep?

make sure you are taking any of these PPI meds (Prilosec, Omeprazole, Nexium, etc.) 30-60 minutes before meals. Otherwise they won't work well. Sometime doctors don't tell you that.
