Protonix?

Has anyone out there taken protonix? I went to the doctor today and she gave me Protonix 40mg samples to try. I'm not even sure I have GERD. I mostly have discomfort/tight feeling in epigastric area that comes and goes. Sometimes it burns but not bad. I never feel burning in my chest area and I haven't noted any acid backwash into my esophagus or mouth. Sometimes I have a bitter taste in my mouth but I thought that could be a side effect of the pepcid. I sleep well at night but when I wake up in the morning my upper abdomen feels tight and sometimes I feel burning. I've had a hard time eating (I feel full quickly). I go in for an abdominal ultrasound in the morning. I also have had anxiety the past couple of months and think that maybe that could be contributing to my stomach discomfort. I'm reluctant to try the protonix as I fear side effects. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have been on Protonix a few years. It really helps me out and there aren't any real side effects that I have noticed. It just makes me feel better :o)

I have GERD and am taking Protonix for the extra acid I produce. It helps a lot and the only side effect I've noticed is
belching/gas which isn't bad.

Hi..I have been on protonix for a year now...It helped alot with the gerds, but not so much with my lpr...Then dr upped the dosage, so now I am on 2 protonix a day,and I do feel better. I also watch my diet. I am not 100% better, do not know if I ever will be...but the protonix makes this manageable for me.

Thanks so much for your helpful comments. I've taken the protonix for 3 days and my stomach feels much better. Since my stomach has been feeling better my anxiety has decreased! My appetite is slowly coming back but I will be careful with what I eat. I'm going to try smaller, more frequent meals. Thus far I've had no side effects.
