My dr. switched me from Prevacid to Prilosec at 40 mg a day. The first day, I took it and slept the entire day. I took 20 mg the next day in the evening and was sleepy for a while, then couldn't sleep that night. It is doing great with the reflux. Anyone else have problems with it making them sleepy. I also have COPD and use inhalers and nebulizer for that.

I took Prilosec and it didn't have that effect on me, and was very helpful. But side-effects are different for everyone. Maybe you should take it at a different time of day? Do you take it in the morning before you eat anything...?
I'm not a doctor though, so maybe you should ask yours about it if it keeps up.

I take the generic pill for Prilosec - Omeprazole. When I started taking it I was taking 20mg a day. About a year later it was increased to 40mg a day and how sleep I got in the afternoon. With my Drs. permission I take it 20 mg one day and 40mg the next day. Adding up to me now taking 30mg. a day and I find I get less sleepy now then when I took 40mg a day.Remember, Everyone's is different. I'm not a doctor. I think you should talk to your doctor on how it's effecting you.
