Anyone try this for acid reflux either in the brand name or the generic name? If so did it work or not? What did you experience about it as far as any side affects?

" I was on Prilosec for a few years. I did well on it then had gastric bypass surgery and didn't need it anymore and then last two endoscopies showed 3 gastric ulcers and 1 jujuenal ulcer. I was placed on Protonix twice a day not finding protonix to help. Then was admitted to hospital and placed on Nexium which worked like a dream. I going to ask the doctor to switch me to Nexium. It depends your situation and your body... I think it is a matter of shopping around I have insurance and any med is $3.00 so Nexium is cheaper than OTC prilosec for me. but prilosec and nexium work along the same lines. Protonix has allot of hype and I use it allot for GI bleeds in the ER but I am not impressed with it. Good Luck!

" I am just beginning my journey of medications. Protonix I just started but Nexium didn't do much for me. Carafate worked well.... I really haven't had any side effects. I am also starting Reglin. I will let you know how this works out. Good luck to you "
