hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with acid reflux (GERD) and lately been burping a lot, feel bloated and having shortness of breath. My doctor told me that these are symptoms of GERD. I was put on Nexium but it only worked for awhile. Then she gave me Pariet and after taking it for 2days, the symptoms went away (specially the shortness of breath) but was replaced with diarrhea and tummy cramps . So I stopped taking it and diarrhea went away but just for a day. Now, the diarrhea came back and I'm having flu-like symptoms. I've read that these are the side-effects of Pariet. However, in few days time I'll be having my monthly period and I can't tell now if what I'm feeling is due to my period coming or from the Pariet effects. =(

Anyone who has the same experience with Pariet? Any comment will be highly appreciated.

God bless you.

" i have been using pariet for about 6 months.

It totally eliminated the refux problem.

However I have been getting very severe side effects that I am only now thinking could be caused by the pariet. Diarrhea, bloating, flatulence, abdominal pain.

The doctors have diagnosed me with IBS-D.

After doing a bit of research on Pariet after I realised that these IBS symptoms only started after taking pariet, I am now questioning that. I think it may be the Pariet. I have stopped taking it as of yesterday so I'll see how I go.
I'll be furious at the doctors if that is the case as I have been through hell the last 6 months and I have also discovered i am taking a larger dose than I should be. I have the 20mg tabs and have been taking them for 6 months. I should only be on the 10mg tabs long term after the initial 20mg course. "

" I know it as Aciphex. Gastro put me on it when nothing else worked. It worked well for me with no side effects except for osteoporosis. Get off of it as soon as you can. Watch your calcium and vit. D intake. "
