Upper Endoscopy and Surgeon Meet
Watch this

Tomorrow I head to Mayo Clinic. Tomorrow I'll be having an upper endoscopy. Even though I had about four or so these, I never had it done there. It is required before having Nissen surgery. Wednesday I'll be meeting the surgeon and my GI doctor.

I'm quite nervous.

Wish me luck.

" During the scope, I was awake during the whole time. And I come to find out that I can't have the Nissen Fundoplication surgery to correct GERD. "

" So very sorry. How long did it take for you to get to see a doctor at Mayo? I need to find a new doctor ASAP. "

" I don't really remember. I would say it took about a month for me to get in. I really like that place. The doctors and nurses and staff are very good to you. How far are you from a Mayo Clinic? I go to the one in Rochester, MN. "

" I am in Ottawa Illinois so I would guess around 6 hours away. My current GI doctor basically told me yesterday to find a more experienced doctor in my condition, at Peoria hospital or a Chicago university hospital. It has been a nightmare. "

" Another quick question, what kind of insurance do they accept do you know? "

" Hi, Rene. I've been told also that I am not a candidate for the Nissan. The reason for mine is that I have what they call a nutcracker esophagus (spasms). Did they give you a reason? Did they have any other options for you?

Deb "

" You would have to call them to see what insurance they accept. I'm not sure.

And the reason that I'm not a candidate for the Nissen surgery is because of my swallowing. I guess I have too many bad swallows, and the surgery could make it worse. So that's why I'm looking into the LINX surgery. "
