Did any of you have problems with low energy levels when you started the fructose free diet? I have been on the diet for 3 weeks and have been taking a multivitamin daily, but am struggling with lack of energy. Any suggestions? Also, how long did you adhere to the strict diet before trying to add things back into your diet? Thanks for the input.

Trying to stay out of the kitchen and be active is helpful. Taking a walk helps with the energy level. Everything I read says it takes up to 3 days for something to get out of your system, so you might journal your diet/symptoms so you can refer back to it. I find by repeat performance I learn more what doesn't work than what does. Checking back on the journal reinforces what you suspect.
For example, if you react to a certain food reintroduced, you will eventually learn to avoid it. All of this takes time - and patience

Hello!
The lack of energy is very common with those with HFI. The point about the energy is that you should eat food that can easily convert into glucose (essential for energy0 but are free from fructose. The best are carbohydrates and proteins. Simple carbohydrates converts into glucose more quickly: milk for example. The complex carbohydrates and proteins are better for those suffering from hypoglycemia (low sugar blood or low glucose - that's what I'm talking about when mentioning low energy in those with HFI - hypoglycemia is one of the product of HFI). Ok, so complex carbohydrates that do not contain fructose should be pasta and old potatoes. Hope that helped.
