Are spices really as deadly as the diet sheet implies?
How about herbs? Has anybody had trouble with cornstarch used as a thickener? Has anybody had trouble with sauces thickened with flour? Fructose is not supposed to be soluble in oil. Has anybody tried garlic-infused oil with no bits of garlic in it? Or Chinese chili oil, which is chili-infused oil, ideally with no bits of chili in it? Has anybody had trouble with unsweetened soy milk? In short, should I try any of these things? I guess that's enough questions for now. Posted on 04/20/09, 08:04 pm |

Diane - everyone eventually seems to find what works best for them. For me spices and herbs are OK and really appreciated.
Cornstarch/flour ok and work well as thickeners Re: oils - I mix my own - ie olive oil with Italian herbs or canola with red peppers. Both are digested quite nicely. Can't say I have tried unsweetened soy milk, but can report that I do best on rice milk. (Rice Dream) Best philosphy is to experiment. It helps to keep a food journal for a few weeks so that you can refer back to it. With fructose intolerance I also have lactose intolerance - plus sensitivities to fructans. Since I don't tolerate many fruits, I try to eat a huge salad daily for the moisture, fiber and vitamins.
