Hello, I was just wondering how many kids have been through/in your home and the length of time you have been fostering?

Thanks

" 2 girls so far, age 2 and age 3 when we got them. We got our first girl right away and we got our second girl about 10 months later We've been fostering for 1 year and 9 months. "

" Aprox.20 years in foster care.A modest estimate would be 40 something children including very short placements and respite care.We have adopted 4 and have 2 foster children. 3 of the adopted children still at home. "

" We have been fostering for a year and a half. We have had two long term babies, two short term placements and two weekends of respite kids for a grand total of ten kids! We have our little guy, now age seven months, since he was five weeks old. His case is about to get very messy and drag out for possibly a long time. "

" We've been fostering for a year. We only take in boys,no more than two at a time. Right away we had 2 teenage boys short term, A special needs 8 year old for one weekend respite and 2 long term boys ages three and six. That's 5 total in one year. "

" Heidi, thanks for answering back....Wow your year sure has been busy! LOL How do you handle them coming in and out? I think I would have an issue but I am still very new to this. We only have one girl for the last 8 months and she is 14, we did this with the intention of adoption but things with her a turning out to be issues so we are not sure where this will be going and I guess I am just heartbroken.

Thanks "

" Jetgirl, thanks for answering as well. I am still learning much and it has been a hard road with the adjusting, knowing what is typical teenage stuff and what are her "issues". Thanks for your post! "

" I've been fostering for 5 years. Had 15 youth come through. The youngest was 14 and the oldest was 18. - Boys and girls- Some short term. Some for a couple years. The agencies around here use our home to "finish" the youth in our care. We get them a little older, work wtih them, give them connections in the community and skills to live independently. Not to mention a place to call home- and come visit on holidays etc from College etc etc.
Wouldn't trade it for the world. "

" Karauto, thanks for posting! Wow that is awesome what you're doing for them! Can I ask do they have issues and if so how do you safe guard your own personal stuff in your house? Also do you work or stay home? I am going part time next week so I can welcome a younger child into my home soon. I have only been doing this for 9 months and I still have so many questions! LOL

Thanks again,
FosterMommy12763 "
