Hi, I know I'm allergic to many things. Included are foods often made into cosmetics. For example, sunflower oil. If I am allergic to it as a food, do I need to stop using it topically?
What do you all think? And if so, how careful do you think I should be? Posted on 07/13/09, 12:07 pm |

If you're allergic to a certain plant, you should avoid any part of that plant. In fact some people have to avoid whole plant families. How careful you need to be depends on how severe your allergy is. If it's an anaphylactic one, there's no point in risking it. Otherwise, I wouldn't sweat it -- I have no severe allergies and never have more than low-key misery from them.

Whatever you put on your skin will be absorbed.
I fyou are allergic to it you will likely get a reaction, depending on how severly you react and how much you used.
