Discussion:
Lingering inflammation from reactions

I have about a dozen food allergies, sensitivities, intolerances and trigger foods. specifically i am very sensitive to corn. i experience delayed anaphalyxis symptoms: slow swelling of the lips, toungue and airway. i now carry an epi pen and treat my reactions with the normal epinephrn, benedryll, zantac and prednisone at the er. I will sometimes have to also do a breathing treatment and take a muscle relaxant because of my fibromyalgia.

i have noticed each time i have a reaction the tightness and inflammation in my chest and airway remain for days or weeks. the last time this happened i had to do two tapper rounds of prednisone and a week of daily nebulizer treatments.

does anyone else have this problem? the urgent care doctor suggested that it could be autoimmune involvement and not an allergy at all. though i test positive for a corn allergy.

" Have you been tested for Mast Cell Disorders? A lot of people with these disorders have numerous food sensitivities and can get some relief from mast cell inhibitors. You would need to find a specialized immunologist in your area to do the testing. Meanwhile watch out for what might be in the medications you are taking. Feel better! "
