" You have probably heard this before, but...
go through all soaps; laundry, dish, body and such. Is it only where the clothes touch or all over? I know with me and my daughter, we had problems with laundry soap and bath soap. "

" my son also has eczema and even if he doesnt have a rash he constantly itches at times. he will scratch until he bleeds. make sure you are using the recommended clothes powder and avoid contact will all soaps and shampoo. qv is an excellent brand that has moisturiser and soap alternatives. moisturise her skin 2-3 times daily. eczemas is a cruel and incurable skin disease. there is no magic cream out there. the one thing that improved my sons was taking him off dairy completely. hope this helps "

" I have a horrible time with dryer sheets. I itch all over, rash all over, can't hardly sleep because of the itching. I use All Free & Clear detergent, dryer balls in place of dryer sheets(you can get dryer balls at places like Bed Bath and Beyond, etc.).

I recently got a shampoo bar for my son who has many allergies from http://www.bluehousesoaps.com/stor... I haven't used it yet, but others have been impressed. The people who make it have a son with allergies and eczema, so that got them started to making soaps he could use.

HTH and good luck finding answers! "

" My son has severe food allergies, along with eczema, and we use benadryl very often...it doesn't make him sleepy anymore because his body is used to it. It sounds horrible, but true. When we first started with all of this, I was withholding the benadryl because I felt bad about giving him meds all of the time & his doctor gave me a ration of &*$%#....he said, "can you not see that the poor child is suffering?" Since then, I give it whenever he is really uncomfortable without guilt.

Our "miracle drug" is triamcinolone steroid cream. It comes in cream, lotion, ointment or paste...depending on whether you want it to rub in or sit on the skin. We've also used Sarna Sensitive lotion on top of the triamcinolone and hydrocortisone...we've had good luck with that.

From my experience, the eczema is usually a direct result of allergy so there is probably something else in her diet that she is allergic to (maybe a preservative or a dye). If you've already done all of the skin and blood tests (it's still possible you had a false negative to something she's sensitive to), then the best (and hardest) thing to do is a total elimination of anything you suspect, followed by gradual reintroduction and documentation. Also be mindful of air fresheners & when looking around the yard, take note of plants/flowers/trees that could be culprits.

I agree that the body washes, detergents, lotions, perfumes, household cleaners are the best place to start....these are easiest to eliminate and are usual suspects.

I wish you the best of luck. Allergies are so tough. "

" Debs68, I agree w/dancermom, there is probably something else in diet that is affecting your dd. Try eliminating milk, wheat and eggs... see if that helps. (bc those are so commonly in EVERYTHING).
ALSO, TRY AQUAPHOR soap & cream--- it has cleared up my daughter's excema. She is 21 mos. old. Her legs used to be crusy red (gross and painful), but initially it took 2 weeks of nightly washing with it, and it was GONE her legs looked like new again! A babys' soft skin!

Granted, I havent' figured out what is causing HER excema, although my son (3) did have it as a baby, he grew out of it. he DOES have peanut, wheat, milk soy etc. allergies. But no excema since trying to avoid what he is allergic to. (Or since he is older??).

TRY AQUAPHOR- you won't be disappointed (I hope) LOL. MY mom's neighbor got us on to that, she used to work in a hospital, that is what they used, and HEr son used to be allergic to everything. Now he is 7, and he can eat normal... and no excema.

GOOD LUCK, sorry for the long post!! "

" My granddaughter has ecxema and she has to sleep on certain bed sheets made from certain material. The sheets might be causing her to itch....or the soap you are using in your laundry she could be allergic too...also there is a lot of people allergic to dryer sheets....maybe this will help...really don't know. " Trying "natural" laundry detergent might help. It helped my husband with a similar condition. Also, using stain removers such as oxy clean irritated his skin when I added it to laundry. Hope this helps "

" Hi there
Both my 2yr old and baby have ezcema, the older one due to food allergies and no idea why the younger one has it as she has tested negative for everything. I also have used all the creams but one thing I did find worked really well was Pinetarsil. I put it in their bathwater but you can also get lotion and soap too. Hope this helps "
