Newfound Allergies - Friends and Family

View More Posts Ignore
I have had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and multiple health problems for two years now. I was recently tested for food allergies and the test showed allergies to egg, gluten, and dairy. Obviously, this is seriously changing my eating habits.

The hardest part of this is how to cope with friends and family. How do you deal with skeptics, even if they want to support you? How do you explain that this is (hopefully) not a crazy wild-goose chase? How do you cope with visiting/staying over etc--bring your own food, flexibility...?

Any advice is helpful! Thank you.

" Greetings,
Luckily, your list is not too long. I still get sceptics - after 30 years after diagnosis - just try to ignore them! Some fiolks are plain ignorant. It inly takes a few weeks to get nt your own diet - but you may feel withdrawal symptoms (I was not warned of that when I quit cows milk). I assume you have been told how to go about it - if not, just write back - I think I shall never forget the 1st 2 months (& hasd 2 wee kids to have to oversee at the same time, with their own allergies, & foold intolerances. All the best, janeD. "

" I have pretty much the same food allergies as you do, and was only diagnosed in March. The hardest was the "out for the day" running errands, and there is no where you can stop for a fast "burger" etc. I learned real fast to bring my food. We are going on vacation in August, and I am now making a list of foods to prepare ahead, and a list of items to include in my packing. It's a tough change and a struggle, and as far as dealing with family and friends, I just ignore the ignorant remarks and try to focus on my new lifestyle, and realize that ultimately it will make me stronger and healthier. And, hope that it's not a 'forever' thing. Good luck to you! "

" Thanks guys! I really appreciate it.

I do hope this is not a forever thing- I am also being treated for a parasite, so I hope once I eradicate that once and for all, and address a possibly zinc deficiency, I will be able to be more flexible with foods. "

" If you have a parasite, try Miracle Mineral Supplement, can be bought online, I cannot say enough good about this, it is slowly changing my life back to somewhat "normal" I think! It has removed the depression, it has calmed my stomache ulcer, it has given me energy again, it has done a world of wonder so far, and it's only been less than a week. "
