Anyone given up sugar?

I've been struggling with binge eating, depression and low self esteem for over 10 years. I read somewhere that binge eaters could have a sensitivity to sugar and that by eliminating sugar the binging would decrease. Has anyone done this or found this to be true? I'm going to be 30 next month and really want to get this under control!

" ok, so far doing really well on giving up sugar! things that have helped me so far is i researched and printed all the harmful effects sugar can cause. it was eye opening and scary, it made me realize exectly why i'm giving it up, from deprssion, anxiety, mood swings, binging, cancer, and all kinds of other diseases. Another book i found helpful was the book, You are wha you eat by Dr. Gillian McKeith. so far these two things have really helped me get through the sugar withdrawls. "

" Hi mgates,

How are you doing? I too have read You Are What You Eat. She has a lot of good advice and strong points to make. I just wasn't able to stay with her program for very long. The interesting thing, though, is that when I did her program, I felt the best I've ever felt. My allergies went away, I had more energy. Unfortunately, the addiction was stronger at that time.

I need to find a way to become stronger than my addiction. "
