Anyone on Topamax?

I have an issue with binge eating, partially because I am on Seroquel. I gained 40lbs in a month and a half when I was first put on Seroquel. I have no choice but to stay on Seroquel because it is the only medication of its kind that I can tolerate and I have to be on it. My doctor added Topamax & I find it helps cancel out the binge eating.... most of the time.. I was just wondering if anyone else was using it and found it helpful as well? I take 150mg of Topamax, we use it to cancel out the Seroquel bingeing and it also works as a mood stabilizer. I know it is also rx'd for migraines & seizures. Just curious if anyone used it for binge eating? What other meds are out there for this condition? Also would OA be a good place for me to go? I just heard about it recently & I know of no one that has gone before. Thanks. :-)

" Hi, I was on topamax for a year. It helped with my binge eatting for a little bit, but then it ended up causing more problems than good. IT also has a side effect of anorexia, which doesn't help. I found that after a year my binging was back to it's normal amount and opted to end taking it. "

" I was put on Topamax. I was find the first couple of monthes. I was not hungry But, not losing to much weight. So the doctor increased my dosage from 25mg to 100mg. It just as sting in my legs a burn light tingleing. thenstarted my period and did not stop. It got so bad I could not leave the house. Then I totally lostmy appetite. Which I thought was good. Then, I slowly started cramping. Then a week later. I could not eat food. I did not have the energy to eat food. If I did I thought I would throw up. Then when I thought my period could not get any worst it did. I thought I must be bleeding to death. So, I went to the doctor and he said I only having heavy period, because I, m so fat. I told him I been fat all my life and never a period the lasted two months. It was so bad. I could not go anywhere or do anything. He said it was not the pills. That pills were doing their job because was losing weight. The two weeks after that. My life got even worst. The leg sting and burning increased. cramps totally raked my body. I could not eat. Theside of my stomach was so sore. I could put food into my mouth or stomach and keep it down. At this point I thought I must have cancer and I must be dying. My mother died of cancer. So starting looking what could cause me to feel so bad. At this point truly thought I must be dying.
I was going to have sister who nurse take me to the hospital. But, night at work she look up Topamax on the internet and saw the warnings. About dangerous this drug was.
The first thing she saw on the internet were warning sign of how people were sick from it.
So I quit taking it and felt better with in two weeks.

What so bad is the doctor think the drug was doing it was suppose to because had lost ten pounds. I had only lost ten pounds. Because food was impoosible to keep down. He just thought I was pretending to be so sick.
All I know is that I never want to ever feel that bad ever again. "

" I am on topamax. I don't binge as much but I have not lost any weight. I take it for migraines and it is the only thing that has worked with my migraines so I have to keep taking it even though it makes me feel like an idiot. It truly is dopamax. I only take 100mg a day so I wonder if I take more if I would lose weight. I also have a thyroid problem so that doesn't help. "
