Is it the worst for those of us with this problem? Trying to get myself back under control after the excesses of Christmas and New Year is proving very difficult. I know I can do it because I was nearly four weeks binge free in the run up to Christmas. I knew I was going to let myself eat whatever I wanted over the holidays, and was planning it so I was super good in the weeks before. I managed this because I was looking forward to my binges over Christmas so now with infinity stretching out infront of me I'm struggling. Tonight after work I went to the supermarket to get a 2009 calender and found myself on the ice cream aisle. I bought a pot of Ben and Jerry's as it was half price (not half calories!) even though I was binge free yesterday and wasn't even craving the damn stuff. It's simply this addictive pattern of behaviour I need to beat. I was terrible all last year and nothing stopped me, not my summer hoilday or a concert later in the year.

" I always take a shopping list with me when I go to the supermarket, no matter whether I'm getting 1 item or a full shop and I only buy what is on my list. Even if I think of something I need which is not on the list I still don't get it, it will have to wait until my next shop when it is on the list ... it doesn't tend to happen too much any more though as I know it will mean an extra trip so I tend to remember the last moment things I actually need before I leave home now. This is the only way I don't end up with some binge foods in my trolley. "

" yeah the combo of bulky cozy sweaters, cold weather, and great food makes it easy to want to hibernate and eat. But I think.... nows the time to get healthy and ready for swim season to get out of a holiday binge rut! hehe "
