It seems that weekends seem to be the worst time for my addiction to kick in. It seems all I do is errands, clean the house and eat. I am a loner, social phobia so it is hard for me to get out. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

" i think a lot of us with addictions find weekends worse ... or i guess i should say a lot of us that work during the week.

the structure of the work day can help ground us. the freedom of the weekend, AND the unconscious feeling that weekend means some kind of treat or reward, can get us into trouble.

there is a marvelous saying by Soren Kiregaard, 'anxiety is the dizziness of freedom'. "

" for me, structure is important. On the one hand, I hate having to give myself structure (I like the idea of spontinaety) but if I'm honest, structure is an amazing tool for recovery. I go through phases of have more or less structure, and I've found that more structure tends to be a good thing. But also, rewarding myself consistantly is crucial.. So, for example, having an exercise routine is, for me, usually a sign that I'm on track. Eating 3 meals a day (even if I would rather restrict .... it always comes back to haunt). Recently, a glass of wine in the evening has helped me to relax. I don't know ... just throwing stuff out there. Everyone's different. Good luck, I sure do know how difficult it can be xbluevibe "

" I can totally understand your situation. For me it is that the weekend comes and it's been another week of work, taking care of my family, running errands and then taking care of their social lives. Nothing for me. So food is the something for me. I wake up on Sunday mornings so disgusted and even more depressed. I have tried to plan things for myself on the weekends, but then if they don't work out or I can't do them I eat even more. Yikes. "

" It is much easier for me to stay on my food
plan during the week. Weekends are hard because of the amount of time on my hands. I like you don't get out much but I have been trying to get out of the house more so I won't eat. I am also trying to exercise conscious eating and staying in the present with my food. "

" yeah feeling the need to reward and relax on weekends is a huge factor plus more time. I find it helps to pick a new reward. I have taken to spa nights. Where I make a huge bubble bath, light candles, drink ice water with cucumber and lemon, shave my legs, paint my nails, apply a face mask, the whole nine yards. And there are other things too. Get a massage or a manicure, go shopping, go tanning, take a trip to the beach, pick a new book or magazine.. etc etc, anything appealing that doesnt relate to food. "
